bahamiangoddess 06-06-08, - 03:56 PM Has anyone here went down to beach today via a public access and was actually turned away???
Is the place being used to access the beach a public access or private property??
Is it a fact, that it is Sol Kerzner who posted the guards and or police to this area????
What are the real facts people???
Brown Suga 06-06-08, - 03:57 PM yeah, that's the problem right there! Maybe you should think from the perspective of the rest of us, and not from the point of view of those that "misbehave".
U are still missing my point....from I was little I have been able to observe the innocent always suffer for the guilty.
It is unfortunate that it has come to this as my family sometimes frequent Cabbage beach during the summer months - cook dinnr on Sunday potluck style and meet at the beach!
canewry 06-06-08, - 03:57 PM yup all in a day's work.
seriously newry, as an activist party, what is the Bahamas Democratic Movement going to do?
I've always believed that activists and the press are the defenders of the people's rights, when the government has short memory loss.........
money or lack there of, hurting us...
but we working still...but truing since gas gone up and ting, we choosing our battles...seen.

Well Muddo 06-06-08, - 03:58 PM [QUOTE=canewry;279974]Listen here muddo...
Good decent Bahamians perhaps are being ban from a public beach.
Even though I haven't been on Cabbage Beach in 20 years...the very idea of knowing the beach is available to me is comforting...
If by your argument, you are suggesting that good decent Bahamians should no longer enjoy certain things in the Bahamas until the rest of them bad Bahamians get their lives in order, then eventually Bahamians will enjoy nothing within this country.[/QUOTE
No not at all Newry. I am not suggesting that Bahamians be denied their birthright. No REAL Bahamian would ever wish for that. What I am saying is that those who subscribe to this Jungalist Mentality do all Bahamians a disservice, by creating an image for all of us as being uncouth, gruff, unsocialized, violent, classless human beings. This is NOT what a Bahamian is, but it is who the Jungalists would have others believe we have become. We have to rid ourselves of this disease, because it is not compatible with the kind of Bahamas we want for our children and future generations.

There was a news article last night. It seemed as of they were goingto be at the foot of the bridge determining who would be able to go over the bridge. For instance they said large groups of young men on the back of trucks would not b allowed. Yes it is discrimination but...what do u want them to do? Loose business when they are in the business to have a black bottom line!

read songbirds comments on page 7...
the spin already out. She called ZNS for the real story.
songbird 06-06-08, - 04:01 PM I am one of those condo owners.
But you are missing the point! If NO one has access then NO one should have access! They would never inforce a rule in ft Lauderdale stating that foreigners can come in but floridians can't. Ft Lauderdale has a tourism economy also! but that would never happen there!
not saying that this is right, but that's a whole different ball game lincoln. whole different country.
Floridians (being Americans, who LOVE to shout, MY RIGHTS MY RIGHTS) would never allow that to happen in the first place. The State may try it, but i tellyou Americans quick to go to court.
Now, a Bahamian might think, hmmmm is all this worth the hassle? Or would i just gripe about it to my boys/girls/at the bar/at fish fry/or bahamasissues.com, instead of getting together, making my views known via the media, (I SWEAR WE BEEN GRIPIN SO LONG ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT GIVIN UP THE AIRWAVES, USE EM!!!!!!!!) and let the country know that we're not gonna take this crap anymore?
eh. the former is easier than the latter. so i'll jus try that one out.
Two DIFFERENT sets of people. two different cultures, two different mindsets.

and If iwere those boys I would walk (individually) over the bridge... my recollection tells me that the kerzner property isn't the only facility over there (PI).... so I wish someone would say I can't go over the bridge...
Lincoln 06-06-08, - 04:01 PM that's see Marina village...
however, that's a Bahamian beach...
And in truth there are too many Bahamians, young and old who does frequent the Marina Village...
Don't forget when atlantis had some slow months last year and all the restaurants were emty they started advertising the Marina village to the Bahamian public. When Sol needed some fast capital inflow a few yrs ago he sold shares to bahamians- then kicked them to the curb! they use us when they need us then kick us out!
Brown Suga 06-06-08, - 04:02 PM Well Muddo:
Thank you for breaking it down...das the word jungalist mentality!

How much does a Letter to the Editor cost? or even an article in the Tribune or the Guardian.......?
Bahamians love to forget, even bad things that happened to them. remind them.
