I said it, James Smith said it and now, we need everyone to up and just say it.

The biggest problem with the Bahamas Governemnt services, is the lack of true transparent measures and institutions.

You want to "talk" about government reform, lets talk about transparency, first!

There is no way, a Freeport licensee, is supposed to apply for license, being qualified, and not get it and no reason given- a private firm can do it, even though it is a bit rude. But, not something, for a Bahamian, working with his government.

There is no way, a person, should apply to a government agency, and be denied employment, where they are aptly qualified, and dodgy reasons and circumstances abound. While you can clearly see, people with lesser get through the door. For example, if you applied, you are not supposed to get a letter from the person to whom you did not apply, let alone from DPS, and certainly not within 2 weeks.

There is no way, a person walks into the business license unit, applies for a business, and, does not get it, to be told some dodgy reason for unknown circumctances, when they filled in all of their requirements.

There is no way, a person, should go in for national insurance, or, regular social services benefits, and to not get them- and to hear rumours, that he/she did not get it, because he/she was so and so family or can do without.

There is no way, businesspersons, who are looking to expand, should not get their expansionary issues sorted out, because he/she did not hire a friend of a friend of someone who they should have---and not given a good reason, to why he or she can move forward. Or, for that matter, no due process as to why they can move forward.

Basically, we do business in the dark and its frustrating to Bahamian people. They end up despising government and the politricks involved in it--- not just folks who pick a side, but to ordinary folks, who just want to have things in comfort.

I have stories of dodgy actions with the public service, work related and private. The way it is now, is way sh1tty.......we should not just talk about civil service reform, we need to get out thereand find ways to make things better and more transparent!

For all parties involved......
