View Full Version : Feeding Ourselves !!!!
watsayu 06-09-08, - 01:34 PM One of the most unsung Ministers in the FNM administration is the Honourable Larry Cartwright, MP Long Island and the Minister for Agriculture and Marine Resources.
Since assuming the post as the Minister responsible for feeding ourselves, this minister has been BUSY, and I mean busy out of the light of the press and busy working hard...
For the information of those who may not know, this minister has been addressing the needs of farmers and thus in the process is prepared to state to the public that before the end of the FNM administration in this term, this country will be able to support itself in many areas of food supply.
FOr example, seeds and fruit bearing trees like limes, pears etc are now available to Bahamians for purchase.
Bahamians can go the the ministry of agr and purchase these plants and plant in their yards and thus in the next few years most of these products will be available in large supply in this country..
I urge those of us who are interested to call the ministry of agriculture and get more information, purchase a plant and plant it for yourself in your yard.
YOu will be impressed at the plans that the Honourable Minister has done and will be doing to ensure that Bahamians are able to feed we self.
God Bless the Honourable Minister...
bahamiangoddess 06-09-08, - 01:42 PM I hear him talking about the Urban Home Garden and I really would like to do it, but I do not have a green thumb.
I must be the only Androsian who can grow anything!
I tried to grow some Thyme on my balcony and they never even developed the scent. One morning I went to water the plant and it was DEAD, They were in little pots but guess I was hazardous to their health.
But I think it is a good idea. Plenty people have yard space they ain't using.

I didn't realize that these seeds weren't available for purchase before. It's a good way to consolidate efforts instead of asking everyone and dey Grammy for seeds from dey tree; only to find out that they don't have it.
Can someone get the info. and post it here please. I'm lazy.
