It is actually a terrific idea to have a "cumpy" on a trail for the mere fact that the horns aren't loud enough for fellow motorist to hear in most instances. when faced with a situation where other motorists are not focused most times they don't hear the trail horn. A cumpy would be the ideal thingt to assist fellow motorist with acknowledgement of your presence. I do agree that some riders take it to the extreme and agitate other motorist intentionally. Had it not been for the cumpy many riders may have lost their lives due to close calls. Fact of the matter is fellow motorists don't respect bike riders when the too have to undergo the same procedure to licence and insure their bikes. For some reason they feel they have more right to the usage of the roads. So yes, a "cumpy" on a bike, especially when a cautious and experienced rider is on one, is a good idea. Fellow motorists contributed to the way bikers ride due to the fact that thay feel the bikes should not be allowed on the road cause they don't like them, yet they complain. It is a means of transportation. To each his own.....

AND actually, I believe a powered motorcycle over a certain size (ie not a bicycle with a small electric motor on it) has to pertain to the laws of the road, just like every other driver. For EXAMPLE only, if there is a double white line, no they should not be overtaking.

We all have to be concerned about reckless drivers, it's not like we cautious drivers are free from harm. We have people in cars coming down the wrong side of the road EVERY DAY! But, we also have Motorcyclists floating their bikes down the wrong side of the road, in the middle of the road, on top of lamp poles, etc. LOL

But seriously, there is nothing to support the use of cumpy exhausts on motorbikes on the streets of Nassau. To say it alerts drivers, is not a strong case. That's what horns and lights are for. Along with proper adherance to traffic lanes.
