I was at the rand a few days ago to visit a employees mother who was in ICU, i looked at that building and wonderd what could be done with it. My suggestion is to remove the charles hayward libary place it in that building.
The government then can expand the rand by utilizing the space that the libary now holds . I think its an excellent idea .

Something was supposed to be done with the Rand a long time ago...esspecialy expanding to the old Gulf Union building.

The last administration was also talking about some new hospital in east Freeport. But they slunked and dragged as usual.

Then again what did you expect out of a government who's leader needed commisions to determine whether he should use the bathroom, and them a blue ribbon commision on how he should go about it.

Lol! Their chairman speaking now. I hear she is just like their leader, got to ask a million people before she can make a decision. Is this a PLP thing?

I think that this an excellent idea. By the time the Government decides to utilize that building, costs of repairs would have tripled. The building had been sitting there empty for while.

I wonder if there are any legal issues as to why the govt has not yet taken the building???

It amazes me to see Members of Parliament especially FORMER MINISTER'S, in the House of Assembly running on about things that needs to be done in their constituency, when they themselves have just finished a 5 year stint as the representative.
They were in the position to fix exactly what they are complaining about and they did nothing.
Obie Wilchcombe is complaining about the Old Gulf Union building that is sitting abandoned in Freeport. The govt was suppose to use the building as an outpatient clinic for the Rand Hospital but nothing happened.
How can Obie Wilchombe as a former Cabinet Minister and a Grand Bahama M.P, complain about the structure not being used when he had five years to say and do something about the building and yet he did nothing.
How can Oswald Ingraham, the former speaker and sitting MP for South Eleuthera say that he will continue to pray and beg for the F.N.M to fix the road in his constitency.
Did the road just fall into disrepair in the last 13 months? What was Oswald Ingraham doing for the past five years? Was the job of the Speaker so demanding that he did not have time for his constituency, yet they voted him back him??
If I was a former member of the Govt and M.P and find myself in opposition, I would not complain so quickly, I think it makes me look bad. It is obvious that I did not do my job.

Just my five Cents!!! ARE YOU GUYS SURE THE PLP JUST CAME OUT OF POWER. THEY SOUND LIKE THEY WAS NEVER THERE OR NOT FOR ATLEASE 20 YEARS.
