Chile Lovely I still SMH....I think the biggest part of this for her is embarassment! Nothing more or less. She don't want her dirty or clean laundry aired!

It really bug me to hear what the Magistrate hearing this matter was allegedly quoted as saying, ie, it is a shame that people like them ( high society ) should have to air their dirty laundry in public, etc. This Magistrate should resign, or barring that, be forced out for that asinine remark which shows her bias and contempt for the doctrine that we are all equal under the law.

He's a spineless wimp for hitting her, she's a spineless wimp for not pressing charges.

I thought people were getting tired of the widespread domestic abuse...

Cant' the magistrate order a gag order on the case? They did on the GBPA issue. Keep the press out of it if they want to, but someone try a the man for beating a woman!

So very true, but Bahamian society is classicist...so abhorrent yes, surprising no. As a well known Bahamian, this would've honestly been a great opportunity to teach young women, even her daughter, that men who put their hands on women should be punished. That aside, the police shouldn't use the rate of prosecution in these cases to refuse responding to them or giving them their full due diligence. In the same way an officer may say these case are a waste of time an abused woman who is willing to prosecute may not because officers feel this way to begin with...It's a vicious cycle but in the middle of it lies the responsibility of officers to approach each case with equal attention...idealistic yes, impossible no.

These types of comments may be grounds for an appeal against an unfavuorable decision by her Court, at least that is what I would argue. Too many people who should know better are absolutely clueless. It is really scary. Keith Bell was quoted in a daily as saying that there are 48k traffic cases pending, and about 12000 armed robbery cases. This sounds like a lot, but I would like some data from Barbados say, with similar demographics, or from the UN where we can compare numbers per capita, weighted against wealth, etc., to see how we are doing before we throw momma off the train

This is some scary shyte on its face. What is the plan to address the matter of our Courts? They need to dismiss those cases that they do not intend to prosecute. Why are these matters still on the books? Bell was also quoted as saying too that there are cases pending before the Court that go back to 1970! What happened to first in first out?

Alas! Mrs. Zonicle has a typical feminine attitude! “Any man is better than no man!”

I would not say any man, but definitely a man is better than none.As women get older my observations suggests to me that that is the case.when they young and fine they doh have you to study. You see them ten years later and they all on you.Not that I mind, just saying....

As I have said on this site before, I was a lay minister in two Christian Churches. I guess I projected a feeling of trust because many, many woman came to me with a similar problem.

When I was teaching self-defense to women, more and more came to me for advice. My advice was “leave the Bas!erd!” Almost to a woman they said “but I need a man in my life, besides - I love him and he loves me!!!” A few of those women were “loved” to death. Many others to a hospital. A few wise ones dumped him! And are now in good relationships. You may need a man, but not this one!

This would have been a good opportunity for her to teach her daughter that as a woman no man is entitled to puthis hands on you.....so, so sad!
True!

It is soooooo important that a women have her own financial support so she is not reliant on a husband for her “daily bread.” Older women tend to stick with bad husband because they are afraid that they cannot support themself with out him! Bad men take advantage of this!

.....and some women are just suckers for punishment. I would not worry too much about the Zonicles....It probably was a case of an BDSM session gone wrong.
