The fact that the Minister tried to mitigate this is deplorable.

But it also shows a lot of young men needs jobs when the economy is like this this is along of joblessness especially for the young men. construction is at a stand still business is limiting their hiring etc. the government got to restart the projects so crime can decrease especially house and business breakings so hat more money flows through out this country.

While I agree that the government needs to restart many of the projects that were suspended, we have to many people looking for someone to give them a job.I see many young guys just hanging out doing nothing and don't seem to have a care in the world. They rather wait on someone who has worked to either give them a hand out or steal. There is no excuse in the bahamas why young men cant find something to do or create employment for themselves.Even if they got to get a rag and a bottle of joy that would be better than doing nothing at all. I saw a guy down town the other day. He had a shoe brush and shoe polish and he was shining shoes. The police told him to leave, but to me that is someone who could have sat around doing nothing but was making an honest living. Also, we look to Nassau for everything when there are lots of employment opportunities on the family islands.Places like Bimini are often look for persons to work in the construction field. However, lot of guys stay for a short period of time and leave because they get bored and are not used to the peace and tranquility of the family islands. We need to stop depending on the government for everything. The same guys who are unemployed can go to BTVI and learn a trade. But we need to re-evaluate ourselves and find out where our priorities are.
