I was looking at the PLP's in the HOA, and those guys are a bit long in the tooth, aye? I mean, we have guys a bit long in the tooth in the FNM--but they had the foresight, to run a few younger guys, in order for them to keep fluidity in their governemnt.
I think the PLP should try to get at least two young people in the Senate. Let Maynard Gibson and Pleasant Bridgewater, prepare for their next run at it--with Bridgewater, it may be sooner than you think. With Maynard Gibson, perhaps she would want to go back into her law office until the next general. We know you are going to give it another whirl, so, go back and make some money, get back into the community and leave the senate--an entry level position-- to a young man/woman to get their feet wet, and their noses bloodied.
Let a few young people, who have talent and intrerest of course, get a glimpse into how things, tick. Would not hurt, and it isn't as if the senate, is where the action kicks off. It isn't as if the senate would change anything, in regards to any legislation from the HOA....
You have to plan ahead of time, get young people familiar, and try to at least THINK, like you don't plan on living for ever, and being in government, longer.
Mitchell said "the young people have to take it, as power does not cede to itself".....perhaps. But, as said, if you plan to live forever, it would serve folks best to get young people in the national spotlight, and give them the support they need.
I can see the PLP losing the next election, because the FNM may be prepared to run the "fresh young change" angle. You can avoid it. I only call it as I see it.
