i make comments because as a teacher i use different tactics to get points across if they offend you, so be it, but my aim is really to stop the mental chatter that goes on in our minds on a continuos bases so that a new pattern of veiwing reality may take places.

This whole phrase 'think beyond / outside the box' thing is a copout anyway. It's a vehicle the uninspired use to try and motivate others to be as uninspired as them. It came from the cubicle-world of NYC, LA and Dilbert comics and has since been taken to heart by those that want to sound new, but don't have anything new to say.

If you need unconventional thinking, then ask for unconventional thinking. If you need to address something from a different perspective, then do so. But the use of metaphores like these just drive me nuts.
