View Full Version : Montagu Constituency Update--the Montagu Times
hiphopanonymous 06-16-08, - 05:01 PM MP Loretta Butler Turner just released the newest version of The Monatgu Times....which is the newsletter for Montagu Constituency...
Here it is:

I wanted to go to the constituency meeting earlier this month but couldn't attend...did anyone on BI go? If so how was it?
As far as I know this is the second monthly newsletter LBT has sent out since taking office in May 2007.
Wow! It was not for you, and BI, I would never have known this existed! (And I am in Montagu!)

I wish LBT, and all MP's, would keep their constituents better informed on what is going on in each constituency and what he/she (the MP) is doing.
For example, LBT has been in power for 13 months but has only sent out two issues of the Montagu Times....so what has been happening the other 11 months?

I understand. I have been in this constituency from the UBP time to this time and I can count on the fingers of one hand the times they (UBP, PLP. FNM.) have contacted me.

hiphopanonymous 06-18-08, - 07:06 PM Maybe LBT could have someone remove all her election posters and signs that are still up 13 months after the election.
Like this one on the intersection of Lover's Lane and Dowdeswell street.

And these two on the back of the stop sign on Lover's Lane:

hiphopanonymous 06-18-08, - 07:12 PM There are eight LBT/FNM posters and signs rotting on Dowdeswell street.
Two stickers on the stop sign at Lover's Lane.
And don't forget the LBT poster in Farrington Park on Armstrong street.

SpamStopper 06-19-08, - 03:13 PM Jokes @ Montagu.
That entire Village Rd/Shirley/East Bay area is a disaster zone.
~*Lovely*~ 06-19-08, - 03:13 PM Hiphopanonymous, you seem very displeased with LBT. I was impressed to learn that there is a "Montagu Times" and meetings are being held in the Montagu constituency. I have not heard reports of anything like this from people in other constituencies other than the reading program in Killarney. Is more being done elsewhere, as far as you know?

I'm not really that displeased with LBT. From what I hear she is doing a wonderful job in social services.....I am also very pleased to read about the good work she's doing in the constituency from the Montagu Times...like the clean up crews.
I know a couple of other FNM constituencies send out monthly newsletters...I believe Marco city is one. I'm not sure about PLP constituencies....
I just wish all MP's would do a better job communicating with their constituents. I want to know what is going on and what my MP is doing.
This might be because I'm young and am kind of from the "internet generation". I want information fast....
I do not see why MP's would not want to constantly be updating and communicating with their constituents about what they are doing and have done......this would certainly benefit them in an election (unless they are doing something wrong or aren't doing much).
I was also upset this last election because as I was searching for information about both the candidates for Montagu, LBT and Turnquest....I wasn't able to find much information to help me make my decision.
Also, in this day and age, I demand accountability from my elected MP...I voted for LBT and now I want to know what she is doing, has done, and plans to do.
Killarney is a good example of what I'm talking about....newsletters, a website for the constituency...http://www.killarneynews.com/
Every constituency and MP should have a website.....
