So we ga do this or what?

I was thinking.....
Besides us cleaning up the park we should also try to get the attention of the authorities and people who are actually paid to do this.

We got media people on this site...Zotz, do you think you could convince some Tribune reporter to take a look at the pictures and maybe write a little story about the lack of maintainance?

Can any of the FNM's on this site find out which minister is in charge of parks and maybe contact him/her...? Watsayu, you must know who to talk to.

Can any of the PLP's on BI maybe contact MP Frank Smith since the park is in his constituency?

Bahamapress, you still read this site, could you post some pics on your site?

Also, please feel free to circulate the pictures of Farrington park via email to friends and family....

If we start this and get coverage, maybe, just maybe we will shame the powers that be into doing something about the other public spaces or at the very least maintainting what we have done.

I will chip in $100.

Why don't we do a $5 fund raiser and the person get to put their name on a brick path or something?

Maybe we could get the government to give us a customs duty break if we have to import any supplies!

Who ga spearhead da "BI CLEAN UP FARRIGNTON PARK" commitee?

Hi All,
Just returned from a long day of travel and it saddens me to see what we do with our parks and green spaces. I am on board for clean up and donations to the effort.
I have spent a week with my niece & nephew exploring parks and zoos in the US. Amazing how clean everything is kept and how we Bahamians can appreciate and follow the rules when we travel but won't do it at home.
Why don't we have a recycling program yet...or even trash cans that are regularly emptied? Why are there people who are complaining about not having a job when so many public spaces are in shambles? It amazes me the difference in attitudes? When we will learn to respect and take pride in our enviroment? Why do we only do it for the tourists and not for ourselves? What are we leaving in place for our children? Nassau is becoming one big ghetto and we are content with that.
Complacency is killing our country.
Though i must say last week i went by the sea wall out east where easter rd ends and meets wit prince charles and yamacraw hill rd. Out there looked so clean and pristine alot of people were out there and amazingly no trash on the ground, people were just finishing a picnic and the rubbish was in the garbage bins. i passed out there on sat. and sun. it looks like a start now if people out by goodmans would behave like this, are we onto something here people taking pride into their surroundings?
