Several people charged with stealing from BTC

Several people, including an employee of the Bahamas Telecommunications Company, were charged on Monday with stealing equipment from the government-run agency.
It is alleged that on June 2 and June 10, Rudolph Rolle, 43, while employed at BTC, stole 1,000 feet of aerial cable valued at $595.35, the property of BTC, Perpall Tract.
Rolle, a resident of Faith Gardens Subdivision, was also charged with stealing 36 Epic batteries and 28 Panasonic batteries from BTC Perpall Tract, together valued at $3,780, on June 14. He was also charged with receiving those items on the same date.
Others charged along with role were Patrick Brice, 22, of Fox Hill; Peter Farrington, 42; Rollington Hanna, 38; and Travis Rahming, 20, all of Faith Way, Blue Hill Road.
It is alleged that on June 2 and June 12, Brice, Farrington, Hanna and Rahming stole 1,000 feet of outside plant aerial cable valued at $595.35, the property of BTC, Perpall Tract. They were also charged with receiving the cable on the same date.
Meanwhile, Sharod Thompson, 24, of Cowpen Road was charged with damage.
It is alleged that on June 3, Thompson caused $2,987 worth of damage to six 110 ft lengths of cable, the property of BTC cell site, Cowpen Road and Faith Avenue.
Thompson was also charged with stealing. It is alleged that on June 3, Thompson stole six 110 ft lengths of cable from the Cowpen Road cell site, valued at $990.
Magistrate Derrence Rolle granted Rolle $7,000 bail. The others were each granted $3,000 bail. The matter was adjourned to August 25.
They all pleaded not guilty to the charges.
In other news from the courts, a man charged with rape was remanded to Her Majesty's Prison until a bail hearing set for later this week.
David Bowleg, 32, of Sea Breeze Estates was charged with the rape of a 19-year-old woman. It is also alleged that he caused harm to her on May 25.
Magistrate Carolita Bethel remanded Bowleg to prison until June 18.
Emmerson Wong, 22, of Regency Park, was charged with three counts of ammunition possession for three different weapons.
It is alleged that Wong, on June 12, had eight rounds of ammunition for an AKA 47; 14 rounds for a .45 weapon; and two rounds for a 9 millimeter gun.
Wong pleaded not guilty and was remanded to Her Majesty's Prison until June 18.
