View Full Version : the fight
Great Demos 06-19-08, - 06:39 PM I gave an interesting talk the other day about needing more lions in the world.
The lion is not the fastest, smartest, talleat nor strongest animal in the kingdom, but like miles saye when he see's the elephant he does not see girth or strenght he sees food.
Until my ppl see the full potentail of the bahamas we will never be lie the lion. I intend to raise some lions empowering them to take what is rightfully theres not by civil disobediance or otherwise but by the power of the brain and collective thinking.
One lion can lead a thousand sheep to battle . We have examlpe of them all
around us Sir Randol Fawkes, and the list goes on .
I like some of your points.
I don't believe in violence like Canewry seems to be suggesting..
I think we have a 2-fold battle on our hands which has been raging for years: 1) a spiritual battle, which is happening because too many of us have strayed from serving our God and obeying Him! 2) An uncaring government who takes too long to do anything to move this country ahead in the right direction. [my heavens, they can't even fix the traffic lights!]
Number 1) is not difficult to put into practise.. Number 2) is more difficult and would take persons demonstrating for what we need and want.. this will have to be done very cautiously because it can lead to victimization, etc..
Another thing that can happen is that if the govt happens to know that a number of intelligent persons are the leaders/organisers of the demonstrations, they would buy them out (ie, give them what they "want") and then the whole thing could FLOP!
This has happened in the past a number of times..
Also, let us keep in mind that God does NOT help us to do the things that we can do for ourselves!
WinterGrace 06-19-08, - 07:03 PM I don't think we should be condoning violence, The Bahamas is a peaceful country and we don't need to create warfare in the land in order to solve our social/whatever issues...this is not Haiti or Jamaica. I mean there is a reason why ships want to be registered in The Bahamas...they want our flag to be on their vessels when they sail around the world...we making money off our peaceful/quiet reputation.
foxhillgal 06-19-08, - 07:38 PM revolution...
mobilization
civil disobedience
war...
actually standing up against our government demanding change.
Man, Bahamians don't like fight...
we does row and make noise...but be honest...none of us willing to die for this country. I mean physically die...risk all personal wealth, reputation all for the upliftment of the Bahamas.
There are no statesmen, no freedom fighters...those who demand social change...only politicians.
Where are those who are willing to spend their monies, get locked up, get violent to make this country better. Who ga fight...me? you?
or are we going to just watch.
Differnt ways to fight, not into violence. We have to do something my friend for I fear we are soon going to become refugees.
we need to do something Brudda, wot dat is i doon know.
Lots of talk, nuttin changes aye? But I feelin ur pain.................

foxhillgal,
it aint about violence you know...its about the passion...that you would be willing to become violent to protect...
its like taking care of your child...one may not be a violent person, but when it comes to protecting he/she...you willing to become a monster...
Bahamians just aren't willing to do fart dred...they just aint willing to fight no matter the circumstance...

If lynden, Milo, and Cyril them did believe this, we would still not be allowed to go down town...
But lets just watch things happen though...we have been watching for umpteen years...don't worry things will get better...

Man even G_d waged war against the evil doers...in fact, told them to destroy and burn everything. We have some evil buggas in this Bahamas...I say burn them all. Burn the killers and burn the rapists them...burn them...this country needs to be purged. We need a cleaning...and yall does like to talk...

I harshly disagree with your summation upon the state of our affairs; there being a two fold approach solution to the deep underlining problems that plague our nation. What has serving any deity got to do with mans inhumanity toward man; coupled with the fact that we seldom, if at all, cared about the affairs of one another gives credence to our choice of elected officials.
What is necessary for an effectual and permanent change in our society is in the establishment of radical laws that addresses the deep concern-not only of the elite but also the common men who for the most part, in essence, are the ones that shoulders the bulk of the work which is needed in establishing any successful social order.
To put it bluntly; before we can ever truly serve God we must first learn how to serve each other.

deep.
then again, the devil quoted scripture to Christ.
pkmeow 06-20-08, - 11:06 AM Actually, I think revolution is a good idea...but then again I'm sort of a revolutionary by academic training.
In any event, revolution goes beyond just toppling governments its more so about changing consciousness. And, until the Bahamian people change the way they view the world and it's possibilities revolution will mean nothing to us, even it in actually happens....when we begin to work on changing our consciousness, revolution is inevitable.

Instead of "fighting", we Bahamians need to use our common sense and intelligence to foresee and then circumvent future problems.
The "passion" of which Newry speaks, tends to be reactive and the resulting emotion-driven actions often are unstable and short-term oriented. This "passion" also leaves persons vulnerable to being manipulated extremely easily by those who desire to use that drive to suit their own purposes. Blind with emotion, people in that state easily can become a mob - unruly and volatile.
We Bahamians never want to get to that point. Such is the cause for riots and other misguided behavior which really doesn't solve anything in the long run and causes more harm than good since vicious cycles often ensue.
As said before, we Bahamians simply need to be more proactive. Instead of looking up to the sky, we have to focus our vision on our tasks and purposes here on this planet. We also need to realize that some of the changes that we wish to be made will take time and in some instances will not be felt until the next few generations.
This society's size is simultaneously our greatest weakness and our greatest power. Small changes made within these borders are felt across the board. Therefore, it is in our best interest to maintain tight control over all influential factors within this society as much as we can - in a democratic and diplomatic fashion.
The Bahamas has great potential, but we will not see change for the better until we stop undermining the roots of our stability. Education and awareness of all aspects of how each citizen plays their part in this nation is a key component in maintaining a stable nation. The ability to self-monitor our actions is important as well. What we do today may seem like a good idea, but what effect will it have upon others tomorrow? Cooperation and synergy round up the list of what needs to be focused upon at present because we can only change this nation together. EVERYONE has to be on the same page and working towards the same goal of making this nation and everything within it (including themselves) better.
Now that I've said my piece, what are each of you going to do about what I just said? Remember that the future of this Bahamaland may depend on your answer...

deep.
then again, the devil quoted scripture to Christ.
Hey Newry, dont mind this bey..
He seldon agrees with anything that makes sense..
Hope he doesn't get the boot again in this other incarnation.
When the devil quoted scripture to Christ, he was actually misquoting it..
I love the idea of fighting evil, etc, but I like to do it in a very diplomatic way -- many times we have to go to the very Top!
At this time there is one scripture we could do well to bear in mind, ie, Isaiah 41: 10-13. I have seen this worked many times in my life.. I love it!!!

Good points!..
I can tell you, I am a somewhat behind-the-scenes person, but I do my best to instruct my children and my grand children (and in many cases many others) about the things in this life which are important for themselves and our beloved country. As Bahamians we seem not to take kindly to good advice; we seem to NOT want to do anything that should be done unless and until we are FORCED to do it, or we just HAVE to do it to aviod disaster!
I believe we are at that point in time right now where we just MUST do what is necessary to resolve the many issues we face in this country!
Believe you me, I have seen and experienced a lot, having worked on many jobs with many companies, with all kinds and conditions of people. I am happy that my wisdom and experience are increasing every day; I am glad to impart these skills and learning to everyone I meet, so that they don't make some of the dumb mistakes I have made during my youth!
I am confident that our issues will be resolved..
