The condition of the police corporal, who was shot in the abdomen over a week ago outside the Fantasy Web Cafe on Wulff Road, has been upgraded to critically ill. He has been transferred back into the Intensive Care Unit at the Princess Margaret Hospital.

Corporal 2531 Alexis Roberts, who is attached at the Government House police security detail, was shot on June 11 just after 2 p.m. According to police, Roberts pulled up to the Web Cafe and was immediately approached by a short, dark man wearing a light-colored shirt and khaki pants. The man reportedly produced a handgun and fired a single shot, hitting the officer in the abdomen.

Roberts was taken to the hospital in an unmarked vehicle and had been listed as being in serious

condition at the time, however, The Guardian learned that after receiving three surgeries the officer, who was initially in ICU, but had been transferred to the ward after his health started to improve, was transferred back to ICU a few days ago after his health condition started to deteriorate.

According to Inspector Christopher Wright, Roberts' status was upgraded a few days ago to critically ill.

Roberts was said to be in an unresponsive state over the weekend. Inspector Wright said an active investigation is still ongoing and police are still searching for the person responsible for the shooting.

Police believe that the daytime attack on Roberts may have been the result of an armed robbery, and it is believed that Roberts may have been moonlighting for a business in the area - a practice that Acting Commissioner of Police Reginald Ferguson wants eradicated.

If this officer dies, will he be ENTITLED to a military funeral?

First of all let us hope he does not die, but if he does he should get full military send off. He may have been moonlighting but nothing has been proven.

These newspapers don't do reporting justice at all. By now, them US newspapers would have told you if he was working, if he had won some money, if he had huge gambling debts, something. All these people are doing is recycling old news. I hope the cop gets better, but I still want to know the full story. What he was doing there?

The story I heard was that he was serving a summons to the store adjacent to the web cafe, and was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was carrying a bag (which was holding the summons'), which the attackers mistook for a money bag.

Hope he pulls through.

Full military funeral no matter what....Only officers who have retired (if the family opts not to) or who are interdicted (arrested and waiting to be charged or charged and not gone to trial) do not get full military, no matter the circumstances of their death.
