My peeps in North Andros just call and informed me that the Police has just search the Local Government office in North Andros looking for drugs.

Apparently one of the Chairman for a township is in hiding along with another man. The Police is looking for both men in relation to a drug matter. It is believed that the Police may have intercepted some phone calls in relation to the drug deal!

The Chairman that the Police is looking for, is also on the ballot for the elections tomorow.

Wowwwwwww..... NOT THE GOVERNMENT OFFICE!!!:jawdroop::jawdroop:

Thats the way it is going these days, get up in the very thing that is your worst enemy. The drug dealers are putting people in the police force to watch out for them and they are also running for local government to try and stay one step ahead. You seen that movie with decaprio and nicklson(sp?), the departed i think. These dreads ain't stupid. Sad that the Bahamas STILL harbours pirates.

These days - it has been this way since, well, like you mention, the days of the pirates. Its a social disease we cannot escape.

I hope he loses tomorrow, the things he did as a local govt rep should never have been allowed to happen.

Last summer I went into a store in North Andros where a man who was getting soft drinks for a summer camp for the kids, asked the cashier for the bill for the drinks.

The cashier ask him if he wanted the full bill or just the bill for the drinks, the man ask what other bill, the cashier said, "there is also a bill for washing detergents, downey, pinesol and other stuff."

The fact that this person could walk in a store without a Government "purchase order" and credit stuff surprised me. The next thing was Local Government do not operate wash facilites, what in the world do they need tide, bleach, downey for. Even if they said for office use (unlikely),
the Bahamas Government usually gets it's credit via approved purchase orders.

I could see a repeat of more arrest like the one a few months ago with that family island crew.

These people are elected right? Do the voters not know the kind of people they are voting for?

What qualifications does one have to have to run for local government? How can a known drug dealer even run?

Self goveranance in itself is a good idea but when are we as a people going to realize that you get the representation that you elect? We complain and complain about our elected officials but we keep putting them back in office.
