Business people Push For Curfews

National Security Minister Tommy Turnquest on Thursday shot down suggestions by members of the business community that curfews should be implemented for juveniles and ex-cons, who were repeat offenders.
"I don’t believe that is a solution to the country’s crime problems and I don’t see us taking that route anytime soon," the minister said as he addressed the audience at the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce’s 2nd Annual "Meet The Ministers Forum’’ at Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort on Cable Beach.

I believe that instituting a curfew, if we ever get to that stage, I don’t believe we are at the stage currently, but if we ever get to that stage, that will have serious national and international implications," Minister Turnquest said.
"What we need to do for those youngsters that roam the streets at nine, 10, 11 o’clock and later at night, we need to ensure that their parents and guardians take parental responsibility more seriously and ensure that they know where their children are."...
