View Full Version : Behind the news: “Shame on you, Minister Turnquest!”
cococo 06-30-08, - 05:01 PM Behind the news: “Shame on you, Minister Turnquest!”
The situation at Cable Beach and South Ocean and the Hurricane Hole being placed on hold give evidence that we need more investors confidence. I was very much concerned that Minister of National Security made a poor impression at the second annual “Meet the Minister Forum” which was sponsored by the Bahamas Chambers of Commerce.
We have people in our nation who agree with disgruntled investor Harald Fuhrmann who was treated unfairly by several lawyers like Damian Gomez and Kenneth Toppin. Minister Tommy Turnquest said that he knows the problems very well but did not allow Harald Fuhrmann to direct in full a question considering the moral of the legal profession and the fraternity within the government to the attorney general who attended the forum in the second part of the forum.
From my point of view Turnquest should have allowed the Attorney General Claire Hepburn to respond by herself because she now looks like a puppet of our FNM government. In fact, some participants – also from abroad – seemed somewhat surprised when minister of national security called even the police for assistance to stop Fuhrmann from interviewing Ms. Hepburn. Shame on you Mr. Turnquest or not?

FACTS ONLY 06-30-08, - 05:26 PM I for one SUPPORT Fuhrman in his efforts to get whatever justice was denied him. Lawyers in THIS country get away with FAR TOO MUCH!!
What is it about Fuhrman's case that they have ALL done their best to duck the issue? BOTH GOVERNMENTS!!
This man has waged war on ALL citizens of The Bahamas by way of his anti Bahamas campaign. When the boaters of Florida in particular started their "avoid the Bahamas campaign," they got results straight away. Furhman..NONE!!
One has to ask WHY?
Obviously they cannot ignore him. Why are they protecting the bastards who "SWUNG" this man?
I say keep it up Furhman. Keep their toes to the fire!! Embarrass their collective azzes!! Expose them for the crooks some of them are.
What has never ceased to amaze me is............how come not ONE so called 'honest' lawyer has come to this man's defense, or even speak out against him.......IF..what he is claiming is wrong? HMMMM.....
I wish I had the time and money to do what Fuhrman is doing. I guess I'm not mAD enough...............yet!!
Little Fisherman 06-30-08, - 05:40 PM i tried to find things Toppin was involved with in respect to this man, could not find anything, what am i missing.
bahamiangoddess 06-30-08, - 05:41 PM You mean this dude, the way he is going on about this wrong.
They need to get a restraining order against him. He should not be allowed to get this close to any Ministers of the Cabinet!!

Little Fisherman 06-30-08, - 05:46 PM yeah, and he did that in a church, I believe. His head is not good
FACTS ONLY 06-30-08, - 05:52 PM True Goddness, he has gone WAAAAY TOO FAR!! I agree, but how did it get to this? If you recall, and I have been following his situation as I am/was in his shoes, he started out in a 'civil' manner.
Only after been IGNORED did he get to this.
Files missing. Lawyers not showing to courts on dates THEY gave him. Witnesses given different date from him.
What's a man to do? he was locked up already ya know. Do you think he is doing all this to prove he is crazy? And how the hell does the Minister of national Security ask for the police to be brought in when a man is asking questions at a forum to meet HIM?
Does the Minister AND Alfred Sears for that matter know what the answers are and dont not want to say it?
Our constitution(sp) protects Fuhrman as it is SUPPOSE to protect any of us.
He was at a public forum. Next time, if they do not want people who have beefs like this man does, call it a PRIVATE forum.

I agree with Facts on this one. He has EXHAUSTED EVERY RECOURSE. The has a valid case, followed every avenue, wasted tons of money on 'regular justice' and has been ignored. All he wants is his day in court. As far as I know, they were in a public place (church), and he was not accosting the minister. He didn't even touch him. IMHO, he acted rather clamly if all stories are to be believed. The powers that be are hoping that people will think that he's a crackpot and that he'll go away, but he's going the distance. Hope he gets justice someday.

Right. Then WHO in their right mind, would, for lack of a more appropriate word, EFF with a man like that? ONLY a LAWYER/S hoping to take advantage. Thats my five cents.
bahamiangoddess 06-30-08, - 06:44 PM Minister Tommy Turnquest said that he knows the problems very well but did not allow Harald Fuhrmann to direct in full a question considering the moral of the legal profession and the fraternity within the government to the attorney general who attended the forum in the second part of the forum.
If this was the question, Tommy had a right to call the Police..
Tommy himself cannot answer a question on the morals of the legal minds in this country. Stalking the Attorney General's past, present and future will not solve his problems.
He approached Alfred Sears and got a way with it, now Hepburn and he got away with that. Are we waiting on him to approach the next A.G with a gun and do the unthinkable.
How much do we know about this man's mental capacity to say that he is harmless or dealing with a full deck? It is obvious he will do whatever is necessary to be heard. He was arrested before and it appears that the arrest did not move him.
I agree with Facts on this one. He has EXHAUSTED EVERY RECOURSE.
If he has exhaused every recourse I rest my case!
Harold needs to move on or the Law needs to move on him!
No Bahamian can go to any country in the world and stalk the A.G for a court matter they feel wronged by! He should not be allowed to continue to do this.
Something has to be wrong when he can go into church or any building with the Chief Justices and the Ministers of our country and get away with what he did!
BAHMIA 06-30-08, - 06:50 PM If he has exhaused every recourse I rest my case! Harold needs to move on or the Law needs to move on him!
After the amount of money I hear he has spent, I couldn't move on either.

He's not really stalking them on a daily basis, and after that incident, I feel that they probably hide then they see him coming, (they sure weren't expecting him on that stint). He's just showing them better than he can tell them that he's not going away any time soon, and more people need to do this. Would the Sea Hauler Victims have gotten paid if they had suffered in silence? No. Furhman's only problem is that he's only one man.

Seeing that the Court has already adjudicated his matter, what do you think the Government should or could do to appease Furhman then???

What you may or may not know Goddess is they lucky Fuhrman is white and just making a nuisance of himself. When i went to the police for the third time tofollow up on my matter, an old woman and her young son were locked up for beating their lawyer with a bat!! (Why Didn't I think of that? SHOOTS)
In my presense, the lawyer came there to the fraud department and agreed to pay them their money.
In my ex-lawyers office, before they swung me, I met at least 3 'clients' rowing about being ducked and threatening the secretaries with bodily harm for either not giving messages or not taking tha matters seriously.
I know of banks who even though they have certain lawyers names on their list, they DO NOT DO BUSINESS with them.
Yeah, they lucky its Fuhrman. And luckily for me........ I found the best way to skin my CATS!!
When ya owe people money, be carefull where you hang out and whose phots ya posing up for.
The Nassau Village matter is another one to watch.
Word to the wise...
