Admitting that mistakes were made in the recent local government election process, Blue Hills MP Sidney Collie on Monday resigned as Minister of Lands and Local Government a day after the Opposition called for him to do so.

Interesting....So some people DO do da right ting. (lol i said doo-doo) (*family guy joke* couldnt help it) Regardless of whether he was asked to do so or he decided to on his own, the very APPEARANCE of responsibility and accountability is no doubt being noted. I only wonder if others presently and formerly in power are willing to imitate THAT aspect of doing the right thing at the right time. Before the flame wars start let me crystalize that I am not attacking the Opposition for their calls for resignation or painting the current government as do-no wrong saints from heaven being wictimized.
My bigger question isn't even if others that had to make a judgement call like that, would they have? We as a people have selective amnesia....so lets say hypothetically we wipe the slate clean and move from today on....since THIS is now fresh in our minds my question is...Who will follow his lead (across boths sides of the aisle) now that the bar's been set (again) and who will simply request other/more heads to roll while preserving their own when similar trials befall 'em.

All I have to say is if ppl like Shane Gibson, Vincent Peet , Bradley Roberts et al had the balls to resign years ago perhaps the PLP would still be the government!
