Why does the alliance have to become involved in this? In my opinion this is a matter for the Royal Bahamas Police Force, and other security agencies in this country to deal with. Gay or not, or lesbian or not, gangs tear at the social fabric of our society, perpetuating violence and lawlesslness among our often vulnerable youth. I think we are all focusing on the issues of sexuality too much here. If these gangs were a gang of straight girls, in my opinion it would still need as much attention and need to be dealt with and removed out of our society. Lets stay out of the bedroom on this one, cause if they are lesbian or not, they are still causing trouble, and should be dealt with equally.

Let me see if I can say thins right. We do not condone criminal activity by anyone. If these girls are lesbians and are being steered in a criminal direction, would it not be better to steer them away from a criminal direction? What organization would do this accepting these girls for who they are (if they are) lesbians.

Yes I know our well-known personality so I know we have communicated with members of the gangs.
Please note I am one of the founding members. I was one of the founding members of Hope T.E.A. I am also the oldest member.
As you call her “a well known personality” was there when we discussed the situation. It was she who said it’s a gang of girls who may use lesbian sex as part of their initiation. Not all of the girls are lesbians.
As I said don't shoot me if I had the info wrong as we were discusing it while working at the center fixing it up and I was paying attention to what I was doing.

Yes they can join the alliance maybe then they can focus their energy to help our community. Please remember the Alliance is a few groups that have joined as allies. even though now we function as one group. All are welcome to join.

I wont carry on in low blow charades with you. Children are having children because there is no structure in the home. Men are too busy not dealing with their realities and sleeping with underage girls (in this country) when they know better. Mothers are too busy trying to make ends meet while not taking time out to talk to their young girls about teenage motherhood, AIDS, education and the hope and opportunity that comes along with it.

Would it not be a good idea to have peer support groups where these kids can learn about life such as the birds and the bees and stds. Have adult supervision but not in the circle group.

Ain't everyone gonna go to a meeting to talk about stuff that makes them uncomfortable, but they can watch a show targeted to them at home and feel comfortable. They could even call in to ask questions. They need that show now!
I was at my mechanic's shop the other day and one guy was there talking about how he sleeps with 13 year old haitian girls, and he has a daughter who's 12.....He didn't even think it was wrong, because they looked mature and already had sex before....To quote him, "They already know bout dat before dey come here".....I mean c'mon....people aren't born with consciences anymore it seems.....

C'mon Vicky, as bad as this situation is, one requires evidence to carry to the police to initiate an ivestigation,like a tape recording for instance of this alleged guy acknowledging tha the sleeps with 13 year old haitian girls, and even more evidence than that (physical and testimonies). I am not saying that to turn a blind eye to the situation, but you need evidence to initiate some form of justice. And not fair to make reference to Christians in this, its anyone's duty christian or not, to carry evidence of such things if they it have it to the police.

You are so right Teniel Rizzo should wait till his mechanic rapes another 13-year-old girl and get some proof before he reports the problem. Oh and here is another thought what if the mechanic said he was having sex with 13 year old boys. What would have happened? Are girls less valued than boys? Or is it because they are Haitian? The mechanic is a pedophile and when he rapes a child again its on Rizzo hands for saying and doing nothing. Rizzo makes him self as guilty as the mechanic if he did nothing. I lower my head and say I am sorry. But I am only human and one of my daughters was date raped and I now have a wonderful granddaughter. She is 7 what if the mechanic has his sights set on her. to carry evidence of such things if they it have it to the police.
