Parts haven www.partshaven.net has been told that it has made history as not just the only online parts store and brick and mortar but also as the only functional bahamian full ecommerce store.

Uh...NO.

Anyone who believes dat claim mussy just get internet.

Webmasters locally have been setting up Bahamian e-commerce stores for years.

Monika Minnis' ting-n-ting.com (http://www.ting-n-ting.com) has been going solid from 2003, for example.

And Thyme Online been doing that before then.

I hope that parts haven no longer carries those mothball gas 'miracle' pills that work just as well as the Aquapure Miracle Water that was sold for a while by the singing prophet.

They are a rip off.

I think what the news was trying to say is the first fully operational ecommerce store with NO third party.. ting-n-ting.com uses N20 to process there credit card charges which is third party. Parts haven does not do that everything is operational without the use of third party companies.

You try so hard.

Unless you have a direct connection as a merchant bank with Visa or Mastercard international, every "merchant" uses a third party to process credit cards.

Companies have been doing it before you and will continue to. Do you need me to school you more on this or what?

It wouldn't be the first time that the news got their technical information completely wrong.

So as I said, partshaven is NOT the first fully operational ecommerce store with NO third party. No ecommerce store is since everyone has to go through an authorized merchant bank. Also, as for the first Bahamian one...Wrong again.

Accept your free publicity, but don't believe the hype.

we are the first and only parts store online in the bahamas. That is not a lie, as for third party... They mean directly tied to the bank where as N20 is tied to a bank in which ting-n-ting then uses them which means they are charged double. One by the bank and th eother by N20... What the news meant was we dont get the double charge... meaning we can do it in our own country now without have to outsource the service to another country.

we are the first and only parts store online in the bahamas. That is not a lie,Ah...now let's get to the truth of the matter. First and only Parts store online...yes. First Bahamian e-commerce store online...no

What the news meant was we dont get the double charge... meaning we can do it in our own country now without have to outsource the service to another country. For some reason I think you believe that ting-n-ting.com is the only example. I'm not disclosing some of my clients' methods of CC acceptance as that would destroy my competitive advantage and break a few non-disclosure agreements.

Just know that you're not the first or only e-commerce store that is based in The Bahamas. Some people would be surprised at what persons here in this country are doing and selling on the web. Let's just say that although these companies are Bahamian, the markets they cater to aren't.

Answer why it is that partshaven.net/org uses a third party credit card processing company then:

http://www.homestead.com/~site/hslo/store/overview.ffhtml

example link on checkout from partshaven: (hello Steffon Cooper)
https://stores.homestead.com/hstrial-SCooper447/Checkout.bok?cart_id=11402420&sfs=9cddd6d8

Since you ARE using a third party site to handle your credit card purchases, how on earth are you NOT??

And more details:
http://whois.domaintools.com/partshaven.org

The partshaven webstore is all hosted and credit cards processed by HomeStead.com which is in Colorado, USA - NOT in the Bahamas.

So what is it, are you or are you not, using Homestead.com, basically outsourcing the entire online store including the credit card processing.

It is OK if you are, just not a good idea leading people to believe otherwise.

actually seems homestead is not processing their credit cards, Paypal is.
But the entire site is a HomeStead ready made site (short of minor custom design).

3 types of payment methods:

Check/Money Order

You have chosen to pay by check or money order. We will hold your order pending receipt of your payment for up to 5 days.

COD

You have chosen cash on delivery. We will require payment upon delivery of products

PayPal

Click below if you are not forwarded to PayPal within 15 seconds.
Sends you to paypal.

I guess they are still working on their local credit card processing??
You know, to get away from those extra fees PayPal charges.

meaning we can do it in our own country now without have to outsource the service to another country.

PayPal

Sends you to paypal.

And don't forget that Paypal won't *touch* a Bahamian business with a Bahamian bank account. (I've been emailing them about this once a month for the past 3 years, but as of yet, they have no interest in The Bahamas.)

This means Part Shaven is having Paypal transfer those funds into an overseas bank account. I believe the Central Bank has a couple of 'issues' with that.
