Body of partly- clad woman found
By KRYSTEL ROLLE | Guardian Staff Reporter | krystel@nasguard.com

The badly decomposed body of a partially clothed woman was discovered in the back of an abandoned building near St. Vincent Road yesterday morning, pushing the homicide count to 36, Chief Superintendent Glen Miller reported.

The woman was found by a male passerby who went to the back of the building to relieve himself yesterday morning. Police believe the woman's head was bashed in with a large object.

CSP Miller said police received a report around 10:30 a.m. yesterday that a female body had been found in the back of a building on Windspin Road, off St. Vincent Road in the Carmichael area.

"When we got through there we found the badly decomposed body of a female wearing only a blouse. The bottom portion of her clothing was missing. There was obvious trauma to the head. There was an injury which appeared to be inflicted by some large object or some sort of stone. It appears as if her body was there for at least a week," said Miller who heads the Central Detective Unit.

When asked if police were classifying her death as a murder, Miller said that was likely, considering the type of death she suffered.

"With the injuries we've seen to her head, the fracture we've seen in her skull — we actually saw it — it doesn't appear to be self inflicted. It appears to be caused by someone else. So we are looking at a homicide. As to what kind of homicide...manslaughter or murder, we wouldn't be able to determine that from the preliminary examinations. But it definitely does not appear to be self inflicted," he added.

Police are appealing to members of the public who might know of any missing female to come forward and see if they can identify her.

The woman is the second person to be killed in less than a week. On Monday, a man was gunned down around 1 p.m. on St. Alban's Drive. His body was left in the middle of the road.

Investigations into both deaths continue.
