View Full Version : need BI help?????????????
d1973 07-07-08, - 07:04 PM I think is a bit unorthodox but I have decided that I should give this a try. I am a Bahamian who currently resides in the United States, but would like to return home to work. I have absolutely no idea where to begin with my job search, as I have been away from the Bahamas for the last 6 years.
I have a Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling and a BA in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. ( I know, a unique combination). I have also attained the NCC (nationally certified counselor) designation and a victim's advocate certification. I have training in critical areas such as advocacy, crisis intervention and student development and retention with an emphasis on students from traditionally underrepresented groups and have taught to student success seminars and facilitated psycho-educational groups. For the past four years I have worked in Higher Education and more specifically in student affairs.
I enjoy working with young people and started to inquire about a counselor or a special education teacher working with students with behavioral problems, in the public schools, but was told that would first have to acquire a teaching certificate from COB.
So I guess I am asking if anyone is aware of any programs or organizations that work with young people that I could inquire about (private or governmental)?
If you have any information please contact me at dunamis1973@hotmail.com.
Thank you in advance for any assistance you might offer.
BAHMIA 07-07-08, - 07:09 PM The state this country is in, we could use ten of you right now!
You could probably check out the Simpson Penn school for boys, the Willamae Pratt school for girls and of course, Sandilands, quite a few young people in there, so I'm told. Good luck with your job search.

I know there is a need for someone who is familiar with Gender Dysphoria, counseling transgender folk, the Harry Benjamin’s Standard of Care (available online free), evaluation and documentation.
Someone that can counsel GLBT as well with out it being religious based as in reversion/conversion therapy.
But I don’t think you will make a whole lot of money but there maybe funding available in the next year.

*Bahmia wants the finance hookup*
When you say Finance, do you mean the offshore banking, etc.?
Can a future accountant get in on this, or would I need more training?
(apologies, didn't mean to hijack your thread bro)

as far as i know accountants have almost no trouble finding a job in nassau, everyone who i know who went off to become accounts went back to nassau and had no problem finding a job. some of them got jobs that allowed them to go work abroad right out of college.
one was sent to england and one was sent to jamaica. keep in mind this is on expat status so they living over there like them sandy port people.
if u aint a nurse, doctor, teacher, or accountant dont waste your time going back to nasau
