Sweden or Norway...Both have amazing standards of living, clean environment, universal healthcare, free education, safe communities, handsome men, attractive maternity benefits AND they all speak English! Oh yeah - AND lets not forget the weather won't be a problem because of the fantastic heating systems and saunas.

Damn! Teniel asked a very interesting question, and several of you guys hijacked her thread!!!
Anyway, right now my first choice of somewhere to live permanently would probably be Iraq. For non-ending excitement, that’s my place to be!! I won't have to worry about whether or not my favorite program will be on television, or what will be at the movie theater. All I'd have to do is sit and look through my window and listen to the occasional explosions in the distance.
I’m about to open my first bottle of Kalik on this nice but somewhat boring afternoon. Now, if I were in Iraq, do you think I would need any beer-boost? Plus, i wouldn't worry about the possibility of putting on weight! Stress, everyone's companion, would take care of that in a mighty way!
In Iraq, there’s never a boring day, and for anyone who loves nerve-wracking, adrenaline-pumping excitement, that’s the place I would suggest!! (That is, for those inclined to migrate from the peaceful Bahamas.) A major plus is that the women are beautiful, although the one you fall in love with might not necessarily be around for long.

I've lived all over and been all over the world. Some places I can't mention becasue my mother did not know I was "travelling" during those breaks when I should have been in school or working during the semester breaks.
She'd have a heart attack if she knew about the months in Brazil or the trek to Dubai and Qutar!
So far I've lived in 7 states. I like Texas. The heat is crazy though. Lake Michigan (Illinois/Indiana/ Michigan border area) has my heart right now. Standing on the shore of Lake Michigan with the sand in my toes I can almost imagine I am at home in the Bahamas- until of course I am hit with a winter time blast of 20 below air!
Of course the DF and I are scoping out property for a partial year residence in the Bahamas. We both believe in living in various places throughout the year.
We've also discussed Western Canada for the wide open spaces and the areas around Yellowstone Park.
