nah...
you can come and buy numbers right here in Fox Hill right now and nothing ga happen to you, in fact, the number house right across the road from the police station. In side there does be filled with uniform police supporting flowers. But some still say gambling is against the law, nah how that is talking arse. We need to start calling a spade a spade.
If selling fake gucci bags was against the law, someone would have been locked up. In fact, they would have been confiscated from customs.

IF we already have an all Bahamian market place right across the street from the straw market called the welcome centre, why and earth try to change the flea market type straw market that caters to a different type of clientile. The people have a legitimate right to complain. Either say the Welcome centre will be renamed the straw market and give the people who sell the fake gucci back some place to be and sell their wares.

... an while dey at it give me a place to run my business. Give me a house and car and land. Gimme, Gimme, Gimme thats what is wrong here. Why do they have to be given a place to hock their wares, the majority of which are illegal wares. This amazes me a shop owner can be put out of business for selling knock offs in a store that he owned/rented but these lazy cretins can openly sell illegal goods and expect the Government to provide a place for them to break the law.
asterz57 07-09-08, - 01:57 PM Dey should be glad that they gat some where to sell dey stuff. If I was HI I would tell dem pack dey stuff and go home. Dey aint looking to do better, dey jus want handouts. Da minute dey get someplace new, in a month dey ga break da place up.
grouper2 07-09-08, - 01:57 PM every damn one a dem need to get put out of that place and start taking new applications for vendors....... the whole lot full of you know what. Bout they the backbone of Tourism....suck teet.

Again, if it were illegal, they would have been raided...Its like gambling in the Bahamas and setting up shop on side of the road.
That being said, see above comments about charging rent, just like the welcome centre. Plus I don't mind geeing you a house and car, but you ga have to pay for it...some way or the other

they are sheep, sheep are lead. Why yall slaughtering the sheep without appreciation the dynamics.
chancellor 07-09-08, - 02:00 PM I would like to compare the record of the entreprenuers that pay rent at Festival place against the peddlers who BS away from the rent issue when asked at the Flea Market.

again, you can not blame the sheep; its the sheppard, who aint charging rent.
grouper2 07-09-08, - 02:03 PM Boy, I with you too. They need to move them from there and let them set up shop at one of those shipping ports area up the street. It is so sad that we contioue to debate this issue when the governments have allowed these seem people to sell those knock off items. :sparky:
Earl deveaux was ga rebuilt the building there where the ships does dock, and they refuse say they een moving dere. What more they want?

lol...
they've been appreciating it for 8 plus years, and still nothing. That tent hot!
All you have to do is address the issue. NO, we aint building no more straw market there. Or we ga build it in 4 years, this will be the starting date. But what they get, silence and then the answer of soon.
canewry 07-09-08, - 02:08 PM Earl deveaux was ga rebuilt the building there where the ships does dock, and they refuse say they een moving dere. What more they want?
the building already is there, no need to rebuild.
Plus the vendors want to know if they will be there permanently; or will they ever return to their original spot, and when.
Now the question is this. What we Bahamians want for the Bahamas: ie. Nassau, Down Town. Is the Straw Market to Down Town? Should it be on the main street. And who is to determine this?
The title of this thread is “Straw Vendors Unhappy.” As I look back over my history in the Bahamas, I can’t remember a time when the were happy! They were always crying about something. When you thing that they have had and will have a building that will cost them nothing - except their monthly rent which few pay anyhow - I think they ungrateful.
