Boy, I with you too. They need to move them from there and let them set up shop at one of those shipping ports area up the street. It is so sad that we contioue to debate this issue when the governments have allowed these seem people to sell those knock off items. :sparky:

its no longer 2-7, but 7-8 and they still sweating. Peter aint no better than Paul. And breaking the law is subjective. Police in and out of the straw market everyday, the way they are in and out of number houses. Clearly custom is mightier than law.
The conclusion that these vendors must face is, that straw aint important to the tourism product no more. If it were, they would have been a priority.

Right on my friend. You know that one of Fred them give her that thing to read. They should have help those straw vendors while they were in office for 5 yrs and build the requested building. Well you know that they will never see any new building going up there in that area under this present government. Get out your hand fans vendors and hope that a little brezze is blowing.:hammer:

Ping wouda give them one rousing speech, telling them how he build one state a der art market, then use some big words to tell them it ain ger be now!!
Then they wouda bust out the crab sign, hug Ping and go back to they stall under the tent!
canewry 07-09-08, - 12:24 PM The problem is not the straw vendors. The problem is our government and their nonchalant approach to solving social problems.
This continuing issue regarding the vendors is easily solved. Build a new straw market with good ventilation. It ga take about two years to build. Remember they aint start yet...lol. So them vendors ga have a long long time in that heated tent if they dont willingly move cross the street. After it build, start charging rent; That ga limit who there and the over crowding; Then establish an entity to manage the building. As we all know our government can't manage shipt properly. Then enforce the law. No foreign items. No fake stuff. No hirering illegal immigrants. And this ga be hard, since even the shirts they sell is foreign, and some of the trickets that tourist flock to buy is foreign made. We as Bahamians must understand what exactly is our tourism product. The Ministry of Tourism know, that is why they quiet. But nonetheless, the conclusion is, our government just don't care about straw. Straw just finish in the Bahamas it seems. We just need to face reality.
