I heard Robert Farqurharson.. on ZNS- talking about they need to see the PM as the privatization discussion were not going well for the union...

Then up comes Marlon Johnson, explaining that the cell phone system has so much challenges and it should be worked out by end of August... I was like well muddos...

Cellphone users with BTC.. are have to pay so much for poor service and there is no refund for the poor service that BTC admits their are having..

I am fistly so digusted with these union leaders.. they seem to want to hold progress back.... but what they need to be concentrating on is having their staff prove that the imporvements need to the telephone systems in the Bahamas are done and the servce which we Bahamians pay so much for should be reliable and superior...

In the first three months of 2008, Bahamians spent millions of dollars with BTC, and over the years, according the many sources, BTC has millions of dollars they got from the Bahamian public...., it is about good service now... BTC, has not been providing that in many a years...

It just eeen right...

Well, you see, unions are a good thing - when they function as a union is supposed to.

Many of the "unions" we have in The Bahamas don't function as they were designed to. Rather, they act now to pressure employers into giving workers more, while their workers perform less. When the employer resists, threats of stirkes, etc. pop up, and the employers bend.

We do have some unions that do great jobs in representing their members in unjustified dismissals, reprimands, redundancies, etc. and support their members, to ensure their environments are safe and conducive to working, and that they are being rewarded accordingly, in pay, benefits, etc. However, in my opinion, they are few in number.
