canesfins 07-09-08, - 06:10 PM Congrats, and best of luck... (do not mind what others say).. you will be the first..... (haters).... I am just concern that when it comes to issues of child custody, can you do research for all counties in the USA>>.
I guess, this is also a jump start to your most noble career that will soon get on the way.. as well... in that regards, I wish you the best there as well... it will be a spirited debate....
Best of Luck....

say haters :cutie: ... i've been working to bring canesfins into projects in nassau for months. fact is, i had worked with a few other law practices in nassau over the years that had claimed to offer u.s. expertise as well, which is why i asked.

Islandgyal is no hater - not as far as I am concerned. If there are US practicing lawyers in the Bahamas offering exclusively US legal services, I do not know them. If they exist, they certainly are not based from a US full service law firm with over 120 lawyers.
Either way, this is a monumental step in my career and a siginificant development in the legal industry in the Bahamas.
Again - thanks for the well wishes from all.

BAHMIA 07-22-08, - 01:05 PM Congrats Canesfins. It looks as if things are progressing smoothly.
I have a query though - If a Bahamian company enters into a contract with a foreign (i.e. American) company, and during, the company finds themselves in breech, is the case tried here in the domicile of the company operations, or in the States, where the plantiff company resides?

Contracts generally have choice of forum and laaw clauses (a clause that says where disputes are to be heard and what law to apply). If there is no such clause, it is usually where the contract is to be performed.
Murph 07-22-08, - 03:37 PM Hallelujah -- a new young fresh lawyer -- American one at that -- with no political baggage.
Do you do pro bono work? I want to start a class action suit against all PLP members of parliament, stalwarts, past MP's and everyone associated with them for the rape and pillage of the public treasury during their 25 years in power during the Pindling regime. Will you take the case?
BAHMIA 07-22-08, - 03:43 PM Murph, that een no pro bono work, man. In fact, you wouldn't want to hear the retainer for a job like that. :D
Thanks for the answer to my Q., Canesfins.
