Tafadhali 09-28-05, - 06:28 PM Chile, you see! In the immortal words of Marichal Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
i thought it was just me, and this wasnt the first time. maybe that's why in most of his post he comes of a little anti-Bahamian. but hey what do I know: I just keep a good e-mental note.
cyaneyed 09-28-05, - 09:01 PM The thing that gets me in this whole situation is the fact that on average the Haitian community 9 out of 10 times critiques everyones' response to Haiti and somehow manages to exclude themselves.
I'm currently a student in Miami and I get some flack every now and again from Haitian students etc about the immigration situation. They say oh "Bahamians are this" "Bahamians do this", "The U.S. treats us this way and its not fair" bla bla bla. And my first question always is "Well, if you're not satisfied with how we handle the situation, how are you handling it? What are you doing to help your country?" Never have I met a single Haitian who is part of an activist group, think tank, aid group, anything.... it seems the people that have the most fiery opinions about this issue are sometimes the people that do absolutely nothing to help.
Dont get me wrong I know there are Haitians out there day in day out struggling to help their country, but I wish that some would direct their energies in more efficient way that actually gets the problem solved. If insanity is continuing to do the same things and expecting different results then what is going on here? If you see other countries aren't going to change their policies to accomodate you, and people's attitudes aren't changing to your liking then wouldn't the sane thing to do is realize the problem is not going to be fixed if it rests in hands other than your own.

I just know you "got with them" I cant tell you how many haitians and jamaican I "shut down" for dissing the Bahamas and all we've ever done was be accomodating to them. Illegal or not. Its no other way to explain it- theyre just jealous of what we have and want us to be in the same suffering situations like them. Im surprised you've havent come upon any that remedy Haiti a lost cause.
and this is what gets me is when people always jump on the bandwagon *even some ignorant Bahamians) saying "ya treating dem so bad" whenever Bahamians start speaking out against the illegitmacy and resource tiefing that illegal immigrant culprits partake in and act like that's not one of the real the problems and social issues we as a sovereign nation face. to this point where you then come and meet ungrateful Haitian expats and their offspring acting like the Bahamas is dis and dat. and I wonder if anyone ever realized that there is more Haitians and Jamaicans in America than the total Bahamian population with and without the illegal and legal immigrants. This is why we have to keep fighting the good fight in keeping the Bahamas Bahamian.

I guess i'm one of those 'ignent' Bahamians, cause i feel bad for them.

bahmaboy 09-30-05, - 03:01 PM African people dont migrate like that and if didnt know here is some food for thought there are resources in Africa nations that's the only reason why white people went there in the first place and why the G8 countries and these multi nat'l corps are looking into give aid to Africa. Allglobalization is about is making the rich richer and the poor less fortunate than they already are.
but i cant even trip your intentions are good, just misleading
do u know why africans dont migrate like the rest? its becuase they are too far away from promising nations. eg some one in zaire would have to travel thousands of miles through multiple countries to get to say spain, also a jourey like that would take a good bit of money more than the typical african makes in a lifetime.
there are resources in african nations but over 90% of africans live in unimaginable situations. i suggest you read more on the plight of africans. aid is being sought to be given to african nations becuase of their plight, but like i said this aid and stuff isnt the answer. i use to be against a one world type of situation but now i relise it is needed to improve humanity and life on earth.
yousay it like you not apart of us
i said it in the context that i dont live in the bahamas, i have no bahamian children there (any for that matter) therefor i can not to do things such as just being a good parent to help improve the bahamas future. i cant stop a haitian from hopin off a freshly landed sloop tomorrow. i cant help stop the violence in schools and reduce the need for cops walking a beat at schools etc. the statement was made for those who live there, have kids there, work in gov etc the ball is in their corner so i hope they get it together. do u get where i am comin from. i do what i can, when i can, and to the best of my abilities
PS- some also see my post as a little anti-black, anti-male, anti-hetrosexual etc. like i said i dont cut no fuss and tell it like it is.

Im well read on Africa and im beginning to understand the WHY (have your ever picked up DIOP or contemporary african philosphers?). But all that other stuff you proport is your post is bullshyt preaching to MY choir.
and its not entirely your fault why you come off the way you do: you have your own subliminal issues with "true" Bahamians that's why you are quick to comment on the negative and much of anything else and it also adds to why you can so easily disassociate yourself from the Bahamas and Bahamian people ("they" and "them"). Do you see yourself ever moving back to the Bahamas- I can answer that for you- No- why because you feel deep down that things can and will not change. real Bahamians always want to come back home no matter what. I may have went of on a tangent but im sure not to far from the truth.
