I feel that the Illegal Immigrant crisis in the Bahamas has reached an all time high. The Government spends too much time and money processing them, feeding and housing them and then having to repatriate them back to their respective countries. Most people feel that we only have an influx of Haitians but we have people from all walks of life illegally living here in the Bahamas. Because Haitians come in by the hundreds we tend to focus on them.
I feel that The Government of the Bahamas need to do more than its doing in dealing with our Immigrant crisis. A nation wide search needs to be in place where Immigration goes from door to door in search of those who are here illegally and those who are helping them stay here illegally. Also instead of the Defense Force bringing them on shore they should just turn their boat around and make them go back.
But the problem not only lies there we also need to crack down on Bahamians who bring these people in illegally. They should be made responsible for their actions. The Government is dancing around our Illegal Immigrant problem and the more they ignore or chose not to act on it, the more of these Immigrants we will have on the shores of the Bahamas.

It is almost imposible for the Defence Force to police our waters. Our Government should never allow anbody that isn't from a 100 percent Bahamian decent to hold any Goverment position in this country. Your parents must be both Bahamian. Anyone not of Bahamian decent found doing anything illegal should be deported. The United States does it. Most of the most vicious crimes are done by NonBahamian decendants. Why should we let illegal immigrant ruin our country and make unsafe to live in.

There also alot of Bahamians that smuggle in illegals. They to should be either deported with there cargo, or pay heffty fine, or sentence to a very long time in prison. Because they to are a part of the problem through their selfishness and greed.

when i surgested that the immigrant be deported because the United States does it. I was reffering to immigrant doing and promoting illegal activities. As for the United States an allowing legal or illegal immigrants to work in their Governmental system. They can affort and absorb any amount of immigrant working, or coming into their country. The impact that haitians has put our country is far more detrimental than any influx of immigrant coming to the United States. It's just that the United States has a problem with poor, non skilled Black Immigrant coming into their country. They don't want the ratio of blacks to whites to change. They don't want to wake as the minority one day, and we don't want to be the MINORITY either.

no our national security is not 100% Bahamian for their alot of people that are of parents that are half Bahamian, working for the police force, immigration, and the defence force. So don't quote on what you don't know about.

I think he (Rory) was referring to the security business that he is in, as a private company. :board2:

Did anyone happen to read the ongoing articles in the Palm Beach Post on-line about the crisis? Blankenship and Fred Mitchel were interviewed. There was also some remarks made about our defenseless force.

I think we should all be civilized about this matter concerning Haitian immigrants. We should be willing and able as christians to help others where they can't help themselves. So if we can afford to send them home do it in a decent and orderley manner. Remember the bible says do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

:hot: :bahamas: God is not making anymore land, so everyone should stay on theirs, suppose u build your house for your family and yourself and one day u come home and meet a stranger in your home making full use of all the ammeneties in your home, ok so u being a christian let them stay, now u have to pay for everything while they save up and send all their monies home, are u a christian? or are u a fool?
All my life youngsters looked forward to the summer to get packing jobs, gas station jobs, etc, now what are they supposed to do? are they supposed to be innovative and open their own businesses? most of these kids are not fortunate enough to have parents to do everything for them.
I had a son born in America to a foreign husband u know what America did because I had no status, when I applied for more extension on my stay, they told me no, I had to come home, they said when he gets 21 he can apply for papers for me, this child is now serving the U.S government in the Navy, they did not send him home then. when I went to apply for a Bahamian passport they said he has to take on his fathers citizenship, America accepted him as a citizen, but he had to grow up in my country and he was schooled and nutured in my country, he thinks and talk like a Bahamian, my point? Send the mother and the chidren home then when the child turn 18 give them a chance to apply for citizenship, but these people want to come and stay have their chidren and then bring their whole family.
Another thing if we as bahamians keep believing that bahamians don't want to work, then how are they supposed to think anything positive about us, I hear it out of Jamaicans and haitians mouths that we are lazy, if we would be willing to pay a proper wage and be kind to our employees then that would make a difference, in the next few years my children will have to fight for their rights in their own land, but as long as I have life I will fight for them.
When Papa Doc left there was mass celebrations, they said they were going home, well I am still waiting to see it.
The 70 million dollars won't make adifference either, they will mess that up and then jump on the boat and come here with their sad stories. Guess what? I am a born again christian, but God took away my sins not my senses, so I say sail away my friends:sailing: because God gave this land to me.:bahamas: :bahamas: :bahamas:
