The hearts and minds of men cannot be controlled by any kind of government legislation. That is where crime finds its roots, and truly exists in its most potent form. So a man thinketh he doeth, in many cases that is.

As I believe the population must shoulder much of the blame for our “crime industry” How about this a public service spot on TV.
Enters stage left: A well dresses women, clearly a “model citizen.” She walks up to a young man, pulls a gun out of her bag and shoots him dead! She smiles and puts the gun back and exits stage right.
Voice over as the camera moves in on the “dead” teen. “You would never do something like this would you?”
The picture changes to some “crack” on a table.
Voice over: “If you buy stuff like this, indirectly you already have!” “If you sell stuff like this, you already have.”
Blood drips on the crack..
Voice over: “Think about it!”
How many heads do you think that will go right over????
Everybody wants to be left alone to engage in their petty crime, but want the government and the police to enforce the law against others. Waaaaay too many blind eyes are turned in this country. And all that has been swept for years under the carpet, it slipping out! And its too bad that many who should be or hold the solution are really a huge part of the problem!

When I turn without signalling, book me.

When I walk down da road drinking beer, book me.

When I deal drugs out ma house, book me.

problem is, will those that they dictate to deal with the tasks at hand actually do it, they dont enforce the law now. Unfortunately most bahamians are happy with the way things are, so things wont change.

Nobody is tellin the government to go out into the highways and byways and fight crime solely. It is a government's job to put in place the necessary initiatives and policies to effectively combat crime. We all know that it starts with the people and their mindset and their inability or unwillingness to help stop the scourge of crime but is it to say that since the government cant stop it then it shouldnt be their job to initiate programs , policies and initiatives. This is what happens when you draw bi-partisanship on the issue of crime. When you make crime a campaign issue and make it bi-partisan then people will expect changes and look at it along party lines. So for those who say it cant be left up to the government to deal with crime and that the government cannot stop crime, I agree. But , next time tell our parties to stop making it an issue when its time to go to the polls as if there methods are different and the other is totally insane.

Where I live is (almost) free of violent crime. Its not totally crime free, because I could list a number of non-violent illegal activities that happen here on a daily basis. I can't prove most of these things and unfortunately most are accepted as no one wants to step on any toes. Eventually this attitiude will come back to haunt us. Tonight as I walked home (alone) I saw a poster on the local notice board showing a photo of a man wanted for questioning in reference to rape! He is not a local man, and no one has been raped in this community, but it is a reminder that our peaceful community is not isolated from what is going on in the country. I'll lock my doors for sure tonight!

Your party suffered more from corruption (crime/scandal) dan from the crime dat we defining here --- Bahamians smarter than we credit them for: most accept that crime is not to be pinned on Govt. per se

We have ourselves to BLAME for this crime issue...The country is too slack, nothing is fully enforced, there is too much of that "who you know" will get you off attitude going on...Government officals and officers of the law need to seperate their job duties from their personal lives..This country is down to the dogs lets face it ..everyone does what they feel like with no regard for the law
