View Full Version : Bahamas Air - Fricken Frustrated
Freshwaterconch 07-29-08, - 09:08 PM I have to vent my frusttion with B.A. Here is the deal! My family and I are heading down to Long Island for our summer vacation. Booked signed and sealed. My wife and kids are American and hold American passports. We booked our trip to travel on Bahamas Air form Miami, Nassau, Long Island. Not because Bahamas Air provides great service but we want to support the national carrier of the Bahamas. We screwed up not realizing that our childrens passport had expired 10 days ago. We called Bahamas and American Immigration and explained the situation, no problem bring birth certificates along with expired passports and the children can travel in and out no problem. JUST call Bahamas Air to make sure that they will let you on the plane. I spent the entire afternoon on the phone with Bahamas Air being transfered to 18 DIFFERENT PEOPLE WITHOUT talking with anyone who could give me a straight answer. Just tranfered from one person to voice mail, yada yada yada. Does anyone give a sh!t at that airline? Do they realize that the person on the other end of the phone is proposing to come to the country and spend money??? I am frustrated and done. Cancel the Bahamas trip. Screw it...Pureto Rico will do just fine ........ARHHGGG!!! Why do they make it so hard???:bouncy::bouncy::bouncy:
BAHMIA 07-29-08, - 09:12 PM They just not qualified to answer/address your query, (and they should be).
If you knew people, you could have probably gotten into Nassau with the birth certificates, but you weren't getting back into the States buddy. The new rule is quite clear about travellers requiring the passports.
Did they at least waive the penalty (ies) associated with re-using the tickets?

Bahamas immigration said no problem, I spoke to American immigration on our return to Lauderdale and the same - no problem!! The question is will Bahamasair let us on the plane and that is the problem. No one can provide an answer so there goes our trip. Its really our fault for the kids passport expiring, just wished i could have gotten a straight answer from BA, actually any answer. I am just pissed off that I cant get to the Islands and NO CONCH SALAD FOR ME!!! thanks bro just venting:hammer:
BAHMIA 07-29-08, - 09:28 PM Dang, that sucks fa tru. If you got the ok from immigration, then there shouldn't be any BAir stress. But there always is. Bound to be, and with this holiday weekend coming up; I don't even want to be near the airport this and next week. You probably need to talk to Henry Woods, the general manager, (if he would actually pick up the phone and stop hiding behind voicemail).

YOU KNOW WHAT.. my BI people excuse me because I am going to go on a rant.... while I appreciate the fact that you would love to come to the bahamas and visit OUR beautiful country... you yourself alluded that you were aware of what the rules and the regulations were and you also admitted that you were in violation of those rules. Therefore, if you did not have the proper documents then you cannont LEGALLY ENTER the country. Can a Bahamian whose travel documents are not in order enter the USA for a visit NO, USA immigration will send you away quick fast and in a hurry. SO I understand that you Mr American beleive that you dont have to obey the rules of a independent foreign nation...But this the BAHAMAS not Puerto Rico.. where you need a passport to enter...
ok now i am drink some nice cold switcha and cool off.. sorry I am not having a good 'american day'. I know in dey country but sometimes dey does make me mad enough to go to the haitian graveyard for them ( real bahamians know what i mean :) )

:dgi: I think our country is his country too,by the way I read it and our country has no problem wit them entering. The real problem,if there is one, would be his kids re-entering the US with expired passports. Anyway....u can't understand mebe they overlooked the passport dates in their preparation?

The fact that you said you just graduated explains everthing! you are still rebellious and immature! well let me try and explain what hairdo have to do with learning! A great part of education is to learn decency and decorum. part of decency is knowing what is appropiate for what occasion! you dont go into a classroom dreesed as if you are going to a club! the classroom is to prepare you for the outside world! and Mr just graduate! If your employer have rules and dress code that you dont like, your only option is to find another job!! And I must tell you here and now that MOST jobs have rules about the way you dress while on the job! by the way do you have a job as yet"? Actually the schools need to begin enforcing other rules like punctuality for instance! Im am so happy that the ministry has FINALLY begun to try and bring some decency and order into the scholl system in the Bahamas!! Publics schools has been to slack for too lonG! and yes I went to SAC and ask anyone who knows what we went thru in the days of Rev Bonaventure Dean and I am a much better and more disciplined because of it!

My passport expired ten days ago. Do you think I can travel to the US now with an expired passport and a birth certificate? No. I'll have to wait for the passport office to issue a new one, sometime in October or November.
Why should US citizens get any different treatment?
