And before I get flamed, please remember that some of us, especially on the FI have no other option!
Anyway I have a question for those who use Batelnet as their ISP. Can you access the plp website? I tried to go there yesterday to research something and got what we used to get here at times when Batelnet was blocking our access to BI, i.e. page not found, yet was able to get through to the site using a proxy server.
And before yall jump down my throat about wanting to go to the plp site anyway and all the other negativities that I know are going to come this way. I really am just trying to find out if you can get there with batelnet or not :)

YEAH RIGHT. u eenn no true white bahamian

[UPDATE]

Have been talking with the DNS admin at Batelco for the past 2 days and it appears that their DNS issues are now resolved.

Hopefully this will include also the annoying and intermittent problems with accessing BI from a Batelnet connection.

If anyone does experience any issues with being unable to access sites via a Batelnet account, please can you post it in this thread so I can follow up with them.

Thanks all.

Heads up to Ben. There are still issues with Batelnet and this site. I am having to run through a proxy server again. I can get the page to come up but no icons or buttons show up, after an age text versions of what the icons/buttons do appear. This is happening on both of my computers, so it isn't a hardware issue this end.

OK, this one isn't related to the DNS issue that was problematic.... which is the only issue I currently have a handle on.

Sounds like it could be a caching issue, or just a really slow/crappy connection issue, so on Tuesday I'll touch base with them and see if I can find anything more out about it.

Ann - can you PM me some details of your connection type - dial-up, dsl, etc and let me know if it is exclsive to this site (hit CNN, Yahoo, and a few other image heavy home pages when you know there is an issue with BI and see if they all come in fine - has to be at the same time you're experiencing issues here or it doesn't count!) I'll see if I can figure anything out form there.

@generalcrazy: I use Cable at home (modem) and the office (fibre) and have never experienced a problem with BI (other than their 'account suspended' day a while back!) - however, if you can PM me with some details of the problems you have seen (when, how often, nature of the issue, etc) then I can see if I can possibly talk to someone there too.... just need as much detail as I can get....

i dont think you visit BI as much as me though ;)

also usually when its down so are the other sites on the server like jonesbahamas. most of the issue is where it hangs when posting or going to browse the forums though, thats a non stop issue everyday, no problems with any other forums or sites (non bahamian related sites), just figured its the linux server. :bouncy:

I doubt its the server (or if it is, it has nothing to do with Linux, more the number of sites hosted on it) , but this indicates its also nothing to do with Cable Bahamas or their ISP service.

Hey Ben: I've been having problems accessing BI on BaTelNet DSL for the past few days. I can acess all other sites except BI. If I switch to my neighbours wireless network ( :taped2: ) and use his Cable Bahamas I have no problems.

They still having an issue or those protesters at BTC trying to stop us from talking about them so much? Thanks!

Running a few tests on their main DNS servers shows all still appears to be in order.

Do you get anything at all when you try to hit BI? Is there an error you can post?
