View Full Version : schools painted
peaceful 07-30-08, - 03:36 PM okay no matter who comes in government its the same thing schools not ready yet
how bout i passed s.c.mcpherson today and this is the third day in a row i saw what i assumed to be missionaries
four extremely happy white people all with paint brushes doing a quite - botched up job of painting the wall green
now i say botched because they have all the green on the yellow part of the wall as well - you mean to tell me the government couldn't tell these people no we could use you elsewhere
which brings me to the point of this thread
why aren't the schools painted yet many of them are in terrible looking condition
when will they be painted and does the government expect volunteer missionaries to paint it

I passed there yesterday and saw them painting. The rate they going it might be December before they finish the school. Thats good that they are doing that. The Government lousy though. Every year they in the same mess the schools aint ready. From school close in June they should have started repairs on them so they can be ready by the time the Teachers go back in August. I guess Education isnt important in this country. They could have hired plenty of them kids who home during the summer to paint the school and do minor repairs. They joking man den when September come dey gat excuses why da schools aint ready.
peaceful 07-30-08, - 08:08 PM you know we talk of reform
reform my foot thats not what we really want is ham and turkey, free t shirts and a bunch of pom poms every year to jump up and down at the rally
same tune every year
schools aint ready

School readiness is an ongoing process and you'll should be focusing more on Min. of Works; than Education---

Da skools fall unda da MOE, which hav a maintenance seckshun...but dey doon seem ta hav an ongoin preventative maintenance program... Besides skool administrashun/board shud hav some clue of werk dat need ta be dun fa a safe n clean envirement n werk in conjunction wit HQ n MOW... Part a da prob is dey does leh tings geh out a control insted a nip it in da bud...
Wen it comes ta majer repairs den MOE has ta geh MOW ta assess da skool condishun...dey doon jess sho up like dat. Den MOE has ta authorize da werk cos dey gats ta foot da bill from dey budget... Den da big issue does come up...money...cos dis n dat een in da budget...or dis n dat cost to much so ve gats ta take care a dat nex time den dey does faget ta cova it wen nex time come roun...
Den dere is da issue wen contracts issue fa werk...seem no one from MOE/MOW does ensure da werk done properly... I carn figgee out yet who does sign off fa da bad werk...betta still how dem contractors does geh away n geh pay beats me... Den nex year tis bizness as usual fa contract werk...

We in the system are sitting and looking at the slow progress of the MOE/MOW and praying that Aug 25 dont come because not one finger lift yet to get schools ready in Nassau and the local govt people in the island aint sort out the funds to do the repairs that MOE say they get to work on school. Carl laugh at Alfie and they all alike.:realmad::tdown:

You're MOSTLY rite... which shows u know full well the challenges involved in the process.
Work started since before school closed.... lots of our problem is with US as usual... a lot of these contractors and others that get 'gov'men' business' simply DON'T deliver value for $$$$ ....

'Slow progress' means government bureaucracy
'Not one finger lifted' means een no boots on the ground.
Now when you see missionaries doing Govt job, redemption drawth nigh.:bouncy:
bahama_rudest 08-02-08, - 12:20 PM my question is...why do they have to do repairs every time school is closed. are the children that destructive that they have to do repairs all da time. do they use such cheap paint that they have to be painting an entire building every couple months? im sure any of you dont repair your houses that often. mayb the MOE needs to set up a summer social program for students and make them do minor repairs to schools and clean up beaches n stuff. it could help build character, responsibility, discipline and teamwork
