Utilities Minister Phenton Neymour has confirmed that once the government has sold the Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC), mismanagement over the years, financial losses and an inability to meet its development needs have led the government to decide also privatize the Bahamas Electricity Corporation (BEC).

You know what pisses me off about us...we procrastinate too much.

This is why people say Bahamians can't run businesses because we don't seem to have any successful large corporations that I can name off hand.

We too greedy and only think about today and not our long term success. Sacrafice the fancy erryting for 5 years and live comfortably for 50.

If they are not they soon will be broke. They need to make some major capital investments in their infrastructure and the price of oil has risen 5 fold on the global market in 6 years. How they can possibly produce electricity for the price that they charge wit oil fired plants is beyond me. Just facoring in the cost of oil would raise the electric rate to ova twice wat we payin now!

Wat we need is an alternative energy source for generating electricty. The cheapest and most expedient would be clean coal burning steam turbines. Soft coal is cheap and abundant from our US neighbors and we have all the limestone we could ever use to clean up the combustion process.
