RockWell 04-10-05, - 05:41 PM don't worry rory..people are on some "rory's view is purely american so disregard his opinion" crap for whatever reason. just see it for what it really is, a weak cop out. i talk about the bahamas pretty candidly and that shocks a lot of people, sure the reactions not always good but hey it's not my problem. honestly bahamians have been taught a twisted form of civic pride, where we are supposed to inflate the good and brush the bad under a rug where we hope that no one else can see it and hopefully it'll work itself out. you would think that by now people would realise that this course of action isnt exactly the most fruitful one around...but then again, like i say most of the time..."these are the just the ramblings of a mental patient in a tropical paradise :)"
KB I did not say that there is nothing wrong with the Bahamas, maybe you need to take a look at the typical rory response and then rephrase your assessments cuz they with fit perfectly there.
k.o.o.l.b.o.n.z.e 04-10-05, - 05:51 PM and i didnt say that you said that there wasnt anything wrong. and how would they fit? cause that one puzzles me (seriously) especially seeing as how i dont compare the bahamas to any other country. sure rory does compare the conditions of here to the states but guess what, i dont know anyone that doesnt want reform in regards to the bad roads, bad service at most govt. offices and etc. i see nothing wrong with wanting improvement.
Teniel 04-10-05, - 07:16 PM you sir are a moron without a clue.
Come now Rory, I dont think he meant all Americans.

Difference is Rory tends to inflate the bad, and never discuss the good, regarding this country. I cant remeber one post in which he had anything positive to say, not one. He refers to the Bahamas as if it is the **** hole of the tropics, and makes America the seeming quintessential paradise. Like I say we and the rest of the world have our share of problems. No society is perfect. I welcome improvement, and have discussed it many times on this forum regarding this country, but I have also tried to point out the things that require applause. His opinion doesnt come off as american but more as anti-bahamian, and that is crap too.
Teniel 04-10-05, - 08:45 PM you are a little spoilt brat living up in the first world with very little knowledge of the real world. You also dont have a friggin CLUE!!
Believe me if I was spoiled, I would be on a private island in the Bahamas not working a day of my life sipping on Mageuritas and rum and coke. Now that is spoiled :)
l_bones 04-10-05, - 09:13 PM So what are the odds that Rory hasn't even considered talking to Kerzner or anyone else locally about getting the contracts?
I guess they should just call him up and offer him work because he is the top guy in the world, fully capable of installing and monitoring a surveillance system for 1000+ rooms and the 60 acres of property they're developing. Oh, and he can monitor it from his home computer 24 hours a day. Why not let him handle casino secuirty too? Can't be that difficult right?
Way to go Rory, way to be real. Get a clue. Stick to your $100,000 properties not $100,000,000 properties. The reason why many, many bahamian contractors get in on the work is because they realize that they can't build the whole thing. I guess we should have all Bahamian investors too huh Rory?
RockWell 04-10-05, - 10:20 PM A Big Lol @ this whole thread :D
Great Demos 04-11-05, - 08:01 PM I believe some on this thread have carried Rory a bit hard. We all have our own faults, foibles, etc, and we should learn to live with the shortcomings (or the perceived shortcomings) of others. Sometimes he comes over a bit brash, but so what!? The man is truthful and makes his points in a frank, outspoken way! Don't we like the truth!
I certainly don't think he is anti Bahamian -- he is a Bahamian himself. Don't see how he can be against himself!
Now if you say he is somewhat anti government, I would agree, and SO AM I!
And I believe we all should be concerned about his plight, 'cause tomorrow the shoe could be on the other foot and foreigners could be depriving some others of us out of a job!

My apologies if I appear to be picking on Rory. He absolutely has the right to express his feelings concerning this country, and however they come across they come across. Some of us here will interpret it it differently is all like myself. I like to be frank and outspoken myself, so we often clash I guess. But in any event this is all healthy debating that I would hope we dont take to bed after we logg off. We all have differing opinions that we express, and that is what makes this sight a joy for me.
