In which case, select other university... many, many, many options out there ... competive and viable options!

These are days of 'school wars' and open & distance/distributed education!

A friend of mine just got a full scholarship to attend COB and everyone is telling her how crappy they think the school is. To those on BI who attend COB now, how are things running now? Is admin better? Are profs showing up to class? Anything else recently happening that is hindering the school? She is going to go regardless but wants to know what to expect. Thanks!

Pfft you people still only settling for those little college. You should try to get accepted to a big time university in the US... like I did. And the thing about it is my poeple don't any money lol I already take out a bunch of loans and I don't know how I gonna pay them back :]

Now see Emo you strike me as a nice guy but I have to distance myself from your logic in this instance. What I decided to do when considering a college was to figure out a way to get more for less, so I chose to go to a regional school. The one I settled on was UWI. I was thinkin some third world country with a deflated country I'm guaranteed to get more value for my few Bahamian dollars. That was my logic. The problem with taking out so many loans with varying interest rates and terms of repayment is and this is my fear, you wont be able to repay them and inevitably have to file for bankruptcy. In most professions that would disqualify you for entry. I'm not saying this will happen to you this is only a worse case scenario. But I'm thinkin in terms of minimising the debt from my schooling as much as possible so that when I'm in a position to take care of it I would be able to eliminate it quickly.

Every university does that. Never transfer unless you went to one of the best schools on the planet. Or unless you want to lose credits. You have to complete your degree and then transfer. Do not transfer without completing a degree.

No look, your thinking negative. My daddy told me that his mom said that as long as you live, you'll be paying bills and when you die, you gin leave bills here. Let me tell you something, college in the US ain't all the expensive. The university that I'm going to tuition is 6000 a year(there are other college that have way less tuition fees but my dad wants me to go to this one). I go a loan that covered mostly all of it. All I have to pay is 200 dollars. Now the loan that I got, I don't have to start paying it until I graduate from college and I have 10 years to do it. I only have to pay 75$ a month on it, who can't afford $75 a month with a bachelours degree? You have to think positive. All of my friends from the bahamas is the same way "man, I dont have no money for kind of stuff man" well I don't have none and my GPA is a 2.7(that only happen because I had to change schools and US high school is effin hard) but nevertheless, I still got accepted to planty colleges.
I understand that you want to go to a college near home but what do they really have to offer at that community college? Carpentry? Nursing? They basically have all of the jobs that you can do withut getting a college degree.
I'm not discouraging you from going to COB but I'm just saying taht there big and better opportunities out there. Personally, I don't ever let people tell me that I can't do nothing so watch what they gonna say when they start seeing me on TV. They gin wonder how I got that chance.
But anyways, college in the US is much better because they teach you alot more things.

You made a believer out of me. You wrong for callin COB a community college but I admire your determination. When you get on tv you could talk to the network execs and help me to get my tv show on the road.

If I had to choose I would pick E! because thas the scandalous channel. School for me starts on the 1st and I have a plan. I'm gonna keep my head down, work hard, dont speak unless necessary and learn as much as possible. Because out there in the field is a jungle and I ga be ready.

That isn't the right way to go because you gonna need to make friends with other people that go there. you never know when you gonna miss class or need help with homework. But it might be kind of hard to make friend in the bahamas, bahamians don't know how to treat other Bahamians go so you might have a hard time :P

The university I going to is predominately black and all of them nice, I couldn't believe it. Even the dudes that dress like gangstas are kind and not to mention intelligent and they respect each other. I saw all that when I would at the new student orientation. I gin have fun there :]

I agree with you. However, I've been in this class for the past two years. I know these people, I know which ones are friends and which are foes. I'm always friendly and keep an openmind to see what new friends I can make. I have good much friends. But I've also learnt to stay to myself. These people so two-faced. And I see right through them. Your school sounds amazing. Mine too is predominantly Black and I dont get such a warm reception. People have ulterior motives and they show. The best friends are those that dont know you, have no reason to know you or to expect anything from you that way they love you for the simple fact of not knowing you and therefore have no ulterior motives. Personally, I'm honest with everybody and everyone I meet. I give it to them straight up. What you see is what you get. If you're an honest person too me and you ga gell and we ga be the best of friends but when I sense falsity and fakeyness I go my own way.

Yeah, I would expect that from Bahamians. We are yet to realize that we're only hurting eachother. I don't know what gotten into us these days. I blame the reggae XD!
But yeah, I'm going to watch my back when I go to college, best friends are the ones that stab you in the back. To tell you the truth, I never had any real friend in school in the Bahamas, nor in the US because this is the concrete jungle :S
