This is not a race thing, just an observation. It amazes me when I visit some churches in the Bahamas and America and what do you have when you walk in or somewhere near the alter...nothing but a white Jesus painting.
It says alot about the identity of a race and culture of people, or lack there of, if not even in spirit, a people dont identify with God in their likeness. You dont ever go in all white churches and see Black Jesus' so why isnt the same accord represented in our Black churches?
Vicky could you find me the scripture where it talks about seeing God in your likeness ;o
and to any pastors out there on the forum, is your Jesus black or white in your church?

Tiaesq what do you think of a church with no painting of Jesus at all?

something would be wrong with that picture if it was a Chrisitan church and it sure wouldnt be a Christian church in the Bahamas.

Im always prepared id give them a picture of my black jesus and proclaim that we have to start seeing God in our own light...they get my drift

No painting at all would be fine with me. I am not worshipping the painting, but the spirit that idealistically should dwell in all of us if you truly believe. Doesnt it say worship him in spirit and in truth?

Putting so much emphasis on a painting or an image, seems to defeat the real spiritual purpose, and is superficial in a sense.

What about white members or Chinese members of a congregation, what about seeing Jesus in their image? Everybody wont be 'represented' so to speak. Race always seems to divide instead of unify, and in that case, no image would be a neutral approach. A true Christian Church would seek to unify all of its memebers regardless of race or ethnicity.

i thought the figure you people know as jesus was a dude (as in flesh and bones) and not some holy spirit. a spirit is not tangible so i wouldnt expect it's features if any to be standard across the board.

nothing wrong with the that, except jesus isnt god

the father son and holy spirit :jawdroop:
