They do have one. I wouldnt trust them to do the Investigation though. Too many things are swept underneath the carpet in the Police Force. I just feel that an outside Agency i.e non Bahamian come and do a thorough Investigation on the Police Force. mediaboss 08-09-08, - 03:54 PM Yes. The Complaints and Corruption Unit is at Police Headquarters. However, you can expedite their investigations by exposing the crooked officer through the press. YorickBrown 08-09-08, - 04:02 PM Tell me how is it that the community at large can see what the crime rate is doing to this country (not to mention the crimes the public does not hear about) and those responsible for fighting crime cannot see it. What gives? :jawdroop:What gives? The same thing that has stunted the growth of almost every black nation in the world today - a glaring lack of the following: accountability, respect/appreciation for education and long-term foresight. Illegal immigration will continue because illegal immigrants and the Bahamians who support their acts are only thinking about the relative short term. They do not see or care how their actions affect the long term future of this nation. They have not intellectualized (due to largely not being able to) how their actions affect this nation's future. Are these the types of persons we want in our midst? Do we really want to embrace in THIS SOCIETY persons who have a mentality of just picking up and leaving when things go wrong instead of showing some resolve and fixing the root cause of their problems? We always wonder why black nations like ours struggle and falter, yet the answers are right in front of us. When we 1. tout a D+ average as improvement in the educational system; 2. allow politicians to not be held accountable for their ignorance of matters this entire country relies upon; 3. do not self-police our sons, daughters, brothers and sisters (foreign and local) from committing crimes against our fellow countrymen, thereby destabilizing what our forefathers have built and; 4. do not make intelligent plans for steadily increasing this nation's waning independence, solidarity and prosperity, what good does the future really hold? I love this country, but the level of ignorance within our society is stifling. Between the religious zealots who deceive/rob our people, the politicians who fool Bahamians into supporting the crock of crap that comes from their mouths and the people who seem to not care what their actions will mean for future generations, we are up crap creek without a paddle AND a boat. In 15 to 20 years we will have a nation split into two rival nationalities, the middle class will disappear and the system will be even more corrupt than it is today as present efforts are like putting a band-aid on a stab wound. Are you prepared? bahmaboy 08-09-08, - 04:48 PM Since this was not directed at a specific poster, I will answer for myself. THINK BEFORE YOU WRITE. BY VIRTUE OF HOW THEY HAVE ENTERED OUR COUNTRY, THEY ARE CRIMINALS. HOWEVER, ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION AND ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT ARE TWO DIFFERENT TERMS. The act of Illegal Immigration refers to the trafficking of human cargo this facilitates the trafficking of arms and drugs; all illegal acts. The human cargo enters the country illegally and sets up home illegally. They put a strain on the health care system and the education system and our other resources sometimes illegally. They are employed by Bahamians illegally. Bahamian officials illegally exploit these people for illegal gains. il·le·gal [ i lg'l ] adjective Definition: 1. against law: contravening a specific law, especially a criminal law 2. against rules: not allowed by the rules of something such as a game 3. not permitted by computer: not permitted in a computer program crime [ krīm ] (plural crimes) noun Definition: 1. illegal act: an action prohibited by law or a failure to act as required by law 2. illegal activity: activity that involves breaking the law measures to combat crime 3. immoral act: an act considered morally wrong 4. unacceptable act: a shameful, unwise, or regrettable act ( informal ) It's a crime the way some people waste food. While some of the other criminal or illegal acts may be committed by Illegal Immigrants, it has been established that Bahamians are at fault for the crime situation arising from allowing Illegal Immigration to go unchecked. tomato tamato and ur point is what? whether bahamians like it or not the majority of the criminal population is how yall like to say true true bahamian and correct me if i am wrong didnt the man in charge of the prison state publicly that the majority of persons in fox hill prison ARE BAHAMIANS CITIZENS. the fact is the majority of these people leave their country to work and send money back home. not get arrested and deported. Brown Suga 08-09-08, - 04:56 PM You ever see a pregnant Chinese in the Bahamas? Dey mussy does send dem home ta get bury. I een know...dat always puzzled me. Dat an what dey does eat fa breakfast. I have seen pregnant chinese, but that is neither here nor there! The Chinese have their own immigration racket going...they make application for 6 months saing the person coming to learn English...then they pay the right person (a crime) and the person str8 to be here working in the restaurant and foodstores! asterz57 08-09-08, - 05:05 PM tomato tamato and ur point is what? whether bahamians like it or not the majority of the criminal population is how yall like to say true true bahamian and correct me if i am wrong didnt the man in charge of the prison state publicly that the majority of persons in fox hill prison ARE BAHAMIANS CITIZENS. the fact is the majority of these people leave their country to work and send money back home. not get arrested and deported. Do you really think that by them sending all their money home is good for our Economy?? generalcrazy 08-09-08, - 05:17 PM Media got to agree with this one... I mean is it that the powers that be just have their heads in the sand? Tell me how is it that the community at large can see what the crime rate is doing to this country (not to mention the crimes the public does not hear about) and those responsible for fighting crime cannot see it. What gives? :jawdroop: simply they is crazy people. the ministry of mis information still continues from the old plp days, and its the babylon that is run that ministry dred. :bouncy: Brown Suga 08-10-08, - 01:49 PM Until illegal immigration and the corruption on the police force, immigration, defence force and the prison is dealt with, crime will not be under control! concerned 08-10-08, - 01:51 PM tomato tamato and ur point is what? whether bahamians like it or not the majority of the criminal population is how yall like to say true true bahamian and correct me if i am wrong didnt the man in charge of the prison state publicly that the majority of persons in fox hill prison ARE BAHAMIANS CITIZENS. the fact is the majority of these people leave their country to work and send money back home. not get arrested and deported. Let me state again that no one is saying that Illegal Immigrants are committing all of the violent crime in the Bahamas. What is being said is the act of Illegal Immigration, facilitates other illegal acts like the trafficking of arms. Firearms are brought into this country along with the human cargo in conjunction with BAHAMIANS. These firearms are then used by both BAHAMIANS and Illegal Immigrants to commit violent crimes. Along with firearms, illegal drugs are being brought into the country by both Illegal Immigrants and BAHAMIANS. They are then sold here by and to BAHAMIANS, who become addicted, then rob and steal to get a fix. The drug dealers both BAHAMIAN and Illegal Immigrants kill, rob and steal to protect their investment and innocent people get caught in the crossfire. Corrupt BAHAMIAN officials are selling work permits to people who have entered the country illegally to work in the sex trade. Corrupt BAHAMIAN officials hold work permits for many people who have entered the country illegally and then sub contract these people to businesses and extort large payments from them for this service. Lastly, just because immigrants work hard and send money back home, does not negate the fact that if they have entered this country illegally they are criminals and should be bound by the laws of this country which is detention and deportation. Because they have not been caught and imprisoned does not make them any less criminals. Because they are poor and simply looking for a better way of life and we sympathize with them, does not make them any less criminals. If you were to enter the US illegally and are caught, INS will treat you as a criminal because you have violated the laws of that country. A harsh reality but reality none the less. Let me draw this analogy, say you work hard, earn a decent living, buy a house, furnish this house, pay your utility bills, stock the cupboards.....would you leave your font door wide open and invite everybody passing by to enter and help themselves to the fruits of your labor? If you do this, will you continue to be able to stock your cupboards and pay your bills? If something is stolen or your family harmed because you have left the door open and invited every passerby inside, do you expect that the police will come to your aid? Especially if the police were sharing in the fruit of your labor with the passersby who have helped themselves to your stuff because you've left the door open? John Doe 08-10-08, - 09:02 PM I still think you are merely trying to sensationalize a problem that contributes a percentage to, but does not account for all crime. But Baboon, I never said that ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION ACCOUNTS FOR ALL CRIME. I simply said that ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION IS THE #1 PROBLEM THIS BAHAMAS IS FACING AS ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION IS THE NUCLEUS, Protons, Electrons, WITH GUNS, DRUGS, POACHING, SEX SLAVERY AMOUNG OTHERS WRAPPED INTO ONE. Baboon, again, I am sure that based on some of your posts that I have read, you are also concerned about the well being of the Bahamas but look at what Bran Mcc is trying to do and he is the second politician I would like to truely give kuddos to along with Leslie Miller who made an attempt to reduce our gas prices but back to the point, Illegal Immigration is not only about coming from a unfortuante state of life on a boat, its about the defense force officers, Police Officers, Doctors at the hospital who do not do their part as Citizens, Immigration Officials, High Ranking Officials, the average Bahamians who compromises for money, it more than just coming on a boat. I have many Non-Bahamian friends in which I trust some of them more than Bahamians and they too say the same thing in regards to Illegal Immigration. The real crime problems here stem from our history. Look back a few hundred years. Pirates and privateers, shipwreckers, blockade runners, bootleggers, drug runners, and now human smuggling. Pindling and his crooked cronies did not help the situation by providing safe harbour for the Columbians who were pushing coke through to the US. I am not sure about you but I am sure that their are many others who read my thread on The Late Right Honourable Sir Lynden Pindling with regards to the reason why the Bahamas is what t is today including some key players like Meyer Lansky, Stafford Sands, Roland Symonette, Ettiene Dupuch just to name a few in regards to the above statements you just made as I one hundred % agree with you which consequently is also a part of Illegal Immigration because many of the Drug Lords/CRIMINALS that came here were fortunate to associate with COMPROMISING BAHAMIAN POLITICANS WHO GAVE THEM RESIDENCYTO DO AS THEY WILL FOR MONEY, still allowing them to not only import drugs, but guns, and oh yeah, Humans, "Human Smuggling"/"Illegal Immigration". Many many Bahamians made a pretty penny off of that, and still are as I mentioned in a earlier post that I have a former co-worker who has family that still does so today.... and it was all right out in the open. When the masses see the leaders and the supposed fathers of the nation getting away with these crimes, and avoiding prosecution, it is seen as green light to pursue their own criminal acts. Very true, just look at Gambling, absolutely no Bahamian can be arrested for buying numbers because nothing in the Constitution "LOTTERY AND GAMING ACT" states anything about Internet Gaming AND AS LONG AS THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON, HAS THE LOTTERY AND GAMING ACT CHANGE TO INCLUDE IT?????????, in addition, all web shops get their Business Liscence from who????????????????:) "Do as I say, not as I do" doesn't work so well. Interesting quote but so very true my Brother..... Peace and Love JD John Doe 08-10-08, - 09:19 PM alli cud say is crime is fo sho not unda control and if u wanna blame immigrants go right ahead and do dat. in my opinion 99.9999% of immigrants work their butts off in their new countries harder than the local citizens. they dont have time to be robbin banks and killin people. they too tired from pushin, pullin, and liffin that lawn mower all day in the hot blasted sun and when the day is done the go home to their house. does it really make sense to say an immigrant goes through so much to leave their homeland to come to yours so they coud get arrested!? trust the last thing an illigal immigrant wants is police attention there fore they does behave their self THINK BEFORE U SPEAK Interesting, So basically what you saying is out of every 10,000 Illegal Immigrants that Come To The Bahamas, We Should Let 9,999 of them go through as every single one of them are Criminals hence the term ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, i GUESS WE MISEWELL SHUT DOWN THE DEFENSE FORCE and the Department of Immigration and advertise that anyone can come here as they please, Is that what you are tryin to say Bahama Boy No matter how hard they work or how they go home and dont bother any body, who land dey goin to if they een had ta go to the Min of Works fa a permit # and Occupancy, ya land eh??????? the hospital when they een payin Nat Ins and my child have ta wait 23 hours before my child name called to see a nurse and another 23 hours before she see a doctor, what school they chirren goin to but yet they een payin no taxes that we law and overcharged abidin citizens have to pay when in the budget Education is what we payin more for than anything else, like the Great Baboon said earlier said, think before you speak. Anybody who comes to live in the Bahamas LEGALLY, I have absolutely no problem, no matter what country they from (as long as they are not criminals or wanted for a crime back home) as they are contributing to the entire society but I will never support a criminal no matter how nice they are to rape and overburden our already overburdened society for money or anything else, go back home, send ya application for citizenship, work permit, and follow the chain of command then come back to the Bahamas LEGALLY........... concerned 08-10-08, - 10:48 PM Interesting, So basically what you saying is out of every 10,000 Illegal Immigrants that Come To The Bahamas, We Should Let 9,999 of them go through as every single one of them are Criminals hence the term ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, i GUESS WE MISEWELL SHUT DOWN THE DEFENSE FORCE and the Department of Immigration and advertise that anyone can come here as they please, Is that what you are tryin to say Bahama Boy No matter how hard they work or how they go home and dont bother any body, who land dey goin to if they een had ta go to the Min of Works fa a permit # and Occupancy, ya land eh??????? the hospital when they een payin Nat Ins and my child have ta wait 23 hours before my child name called to see a nurse and another 23 hours before she see a doctor, what school they chirren goin to but yet they een payin no taxes that we law and overcharged abidin citizens have to pay when in the budget Education is what we payin more for than anything else, like the Great Baboon said earlier said, think before you speak.
