This is not a race thing, just an observation. It amazes me when I visit some churches in the Bahamas and America and what do you have when you walk in or somewhere near the alter...nothing but a white Jesus painting.

It says alot about the identity of a race and culture of people, or lack there of, if not even in spirit, a people dont identify with God in their likeness. You dont ever go in all white churches and see Black Jesus' so why isnt the same accord represented in our Black churches?

Vicky could you find me the scripture where it talks about seeing God in your likeness ;)

and to any pastors out there on the forum, is your Jesus black or white in your church?

well jesus was neither, he was jewish ....

as for god, god is not a human, so you can see god anyway you want.

First of all Jesus was a Jew according to biblical scripture. The Jews of biblical times, were olive skinned, dark eyes, and dark hair. There are indeed black Jews and White Jews, of whom I have met, but the odds are that Jesus was neither black nor white, but had a more middle eastern appearance. But all any of us can do is assume.

But how important is it to assigne Jesus a race or color. He is a saviour whose message transcends all races and colors. So for me I could really care what color he is.

Is it important? The Buddha was not Black or White. Jesus was not Black or White. The message they gave is the thing - their message was Black and White, and Yellow and Red - it spoke to the human heart, which knows no colour.

I have been told {can't confirm it } by a Russian friend that most of the Jews we see today are mixed with Russian blood hence their white complexion.

I don't do the church thing.
I don’t believe Jesus was black as in mid and southern African black. I defiantly don't think Jesus was a blond haired blue-eyed white man either. I believe Jesus was a Middle Eastern man of Middle Eastern decent. Much like my Mother and her Father and his parents before him. They are from Syria a town out side of Damascus. They are olive shined brown eyes one or to of them had green eyes. Black almost straight hair.

given that jesus' family came from arimathea (now eritrea, part of ethiopia), it makes complete sense to me that jesus the christ would look more like bob marley and a lot less like the kris kristofferson stereotype we see in churches around the world.

I believe Jesus had no clour or race because he did not exist. His life story is a mythological construct. So stop with the black and white issues. These gospels are all fables, told almost 2000 years ago and you people still believe. How silly.

If "Jew" is a race, then Islam, Christian, Hindu, etc. must also be races. I was taught in my high school religous studies course that Jew, like christian is a religion. Probably why I only got a C grade for G.C.E, every one seems to be confused about this including the examiners. Even our government is confused; I sight as an example a job application form. They ask you for personal information and one is usually religion. I write Christian. That is not what they mean though, so clearly the people who designed the form are cluless. As an aside, why do they need to know who your ma, pa, how many chirren you have and with whom, etc. anyway? What does that have to do with the jod requirments? A name and phone contact of two people to contact in an emergency should suffice.Race is not important. Thesse categiries were created by wicked men for their own devious purpose. There is only one race, human.

well that is wrong...as thousand of jews moved to Russian, thousands moved to Agentina, thousand to the United States, thousands to South Africa...
Besides Russians aren't white either, they are considered Red, hence the term Red Russians....

I assume the Jews must be a race and a religion...as they had seperated themselves from the mainstream world hundreds of years ago...They are all a common people with common ideas....

The Bible says that God is Spirit:

John 4:24
"God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."

What is the color of a spirit?
You see Christ can't be claimed by any race or group as their own because God is His Father and no one gave birth to God.

If churches want to display the true image of God they should do it by their works and not by false concepts of men.
