The funnier part is that on ur BGCSE results it only goes in A, B, C, D, E, G etc without the pluses or minuses. Least from what i know public schools dont even use the plus/minus system.
Dont know why they use it for the results when they report the national averages. I guess they do it for a better idea of the grades. This makes me even wonder what they call a D+ or a C- or a A- or a B+.
Some places it varies so much.

Schools use + and -. There's lot yet to learn... google igcse .... lots to learn wrt grading systems!!!!

If the National exam is graded on a scale from A to H the the national average is right on mark with D or D+ being the mean. Change the grading system to reflect what is standard worldwide, A to F and there won't be this contraversy.

Accept that not all students should be in an academic stream and introduce other types of schools and different ways of evaluating students and you would see a change in BGCSE results.

I have said it before and I will say it again, not all students have the same academic capabilities, not all students learn the same way; so create a system that caters to all students fairly.
Except for correcting the grading system the PLP started to construct the school in the south which was finished under this govt to do exactly what you suggested!

That would be A - G (U we have w/ us always!) a 7 point scale. Modeled after the igcse in the UK/ Cambridge ..... many many many grading systems exist in the world!

Goodmorning!!! They are the OPPOSITION!!!

op·po·si·tion :-
the action of opposing, resisting, or combating.
a person or group of people opposing, criticizing, or protesting something, someone, or another group.
(sometimes initial capital letter) the major political party opposed to the party in power and seeking to replace it.
the act of placing opposite, or the state or position of being placed opposite.
the act of opposing, or the state of being opposed by way of comparison or contrast.

Obviously they aren't going to agree 100 % of the time therefore they oppose hence the term opposition!
Everyday I wonder what do FNMs expect from the Opposition (PLP)???

Walking behind them saying that I agree with everything that they say will not make them too attractive to ever become a govt. again, now, would it??

Even so the mean is still closer to D than C, therefor D is average. Educate the public or change the system. I still think the system shoud be changed. We should have academic schools like the old GHS and more technical and vocational schools as well as schools for the performing and visual arts that are graded on a different scale.

That's easy for you to say but they still hold you and your children's future in their hands?

If we care about this country we would have to care about our politicians!!! Why do you think Haiti is the way it is today???

The PLP tried to educate the public but the FNM resisted every step of the way which is why they find themselves in this difficult spot today trying to explain this to the public!!

I would hope that there is no one, especially in government, proud of a D+ average in anything. D+ is barely beyond a failing grade.

Well child I don't know whats going on because when I was in school a D was not considered a passing grade..It was C or above..I know in some colleges a C- is not a passing grade either..you would have to take the class over until it was a flat c or c+..

Just a comparison...The politicians thief all the money from the Haitian people....We don't want the same thing to happen to us right??

We have to watch what they do.

Besides it does not matter whether we like the govt in power or not, this is a Democracy and the people have spoken!!! We have to work with what we have...Complain all you want, it won't change anything!

Politicians run this country!!

What amazed me during the PLP's term in office is the fact that the FNM was the group to introduce the 7 point grading system but they fought against the PLP saying that they were talking nonesense when they were trying to explain the system to the public!!

I agree with you there, not everyone are academic. Its kinda sad that the Government boasting about a D+ average. Its like a milestone to them. They just comfortable passing students to the system.
