chaos 08-12-08, - 03:08 PM it dont matter, the union leader incited the criminal acts but the members actually did them.
they could use cable12's video to find who to fire.
the police suppose to have their own video recorder. Like I said, they weren't doing their jobs.

Ofcourse they weren't, they are suppose to be the ones to enforce law and order, yet they failed miserably there. They should have arrested every single last one of those starting with the ones up front, and then had all the vehicles towed away, the private vehicles should have been impounded and the owners should have had to pay to get them back, and they should have faced the typical fine for a traffic violation - traffic violation at the least.
We all know that Hubert Ingraham ain't called Hubigetty for nuttin'. Seeing how Robert Farquharson had absolutely no care for the economic welfare of this country by shutting down Bay Street and the poor message that this approach sends to the youth of this country, what do you think the PM is planning to do to fix Farqui business?
Two bigetty people, all two cannot win. One thing is sure, he won't be treated like Tommy T was treated today.
A complete make over from head to toe. He will strighten him out:jawdroop::taped2:
Techno-Bunny 08-12-08, - 03:13 PM yes they should be scared, not for their lives, but for their job, no matter who they are. They should know that if they dont do the job or if they break the rules, or if they, god forbid, break the law like the BTC staff did on Bay Street, they will loose their job and it will be passed onto someone that can do the job and can follow rules and is NOT a criminal.
General: You're right, a company's employees should not break the law. However, all I am saying is at the end of the day the Bahamas needs BTC to be a functional, productive, service-oriented entity and that is not accomplished by building a working environment based on a culture of fear.
Look at successful technology-based companies like DELL Computer Corporation for example. Michael Dell created a successful business by fostering a business environment based on productivity, inclusion and satisfied employees, NOT by making his workers so afraid that they would lose their jobs so they performed well.
With so many positive avenues available for qualified Bahmians worldwide these days, BTC will never attract the brightest and the best in technology or management (wether public or private) if the govt/board continues to foster this type of submission/fear-based corporate mentality.

I guess they look at cost to the government at the end of the day. Tow cars. What should happen is that some private persons should bring civil action against the union for affecting their areas.:hammer:

And yet Dell's staff would protest at Dell, not blocking traffic on the City's main street - they would need permission from the government for that kind of protest. That way citizens know ahead of time so they can take alternative routes.
Its cut and dry, whoever protested and blocked traffic yesterday, is a criminal.

Tow truck drivers should have had a field day and loved it. The cops should have brought in the riot gear, arrested them all as mentioned. This is the MAIN street of the Bahamas after all, if they cant keep law and order on that one small piece of road that is very important to the country, then its all over. :bouncy:

Like I said before, you are not wrong about the union's actions. However, that still does not justify using fear in the workplace to make BTC a better functional entity for us all. Isn't that what we want at the end of the day?
