this reminds me of a discussion i had with someone one another site (non bahamian)

him: aw man gas went up to $2.00+ no
me: that's it? gas is $3.57 where i live, the bahamas
him: so what? the average bahamian makes $17 an hour anyway

man i need to know where these places are. cause i was gettin a solid $4 an hour for a while now :(

That reminds of something a tourist said on his website after visiting the Bahamas. It was about his visit to the straw market. It went something like this

Dont think that these women in the strawmarket are poor. They make over 100,000 dollars a year.


:what: Cuz I need to start ordering straw work from Asia, and knock off designer material and sell them to tourists.

thats $200 a week, so yeah, some maybe more than that though. I mean I dont know, but I know they arent making a killing. The ones that make their own stuff probably do okay and love what they do, the ones that buy the knock offs, probably do it cause they think there is nothing else they can do. Its not a career Id be interested in.
