I am not so sure about that Suga. I just walked in and purchased my simcard, did not have to produce a phone at all.
When the phone registers to the network, they could correlate the SIM card to the IMEI, or PIN in the case of the Blackberry. Whether or not they will or not (or even know how) is questionable.

I'm sure they will have all their security features on with the theft!

U won't have to fess up...if the serial numbers are distributed, when u step up to get ur SIM card....u will be found out!

That ain how dey GSM system work here. A guest reported a cell phone stolen and I called BTC and asked them if I gave them the serial number and everything off the phone would they be able to track it when a person put they sim card in and the woman tell me no. So once ya phone stolen ya luck buck. The best thing to do is get a print out of your bill and see if anyone made a call on it and take it to the police.

Prepaid too. You can go to BTC give them your number and they can give you a print out of your call log (incoming and outgoing calls). Ive done it before.

But they took my serial number etc when I switched.

And as for the guest if it was a US provider...the phone will lock if another SIM is putin so that won't help whomever stole it!

They have ways of doing lots of things...they just don't....I know someone who got a printout of all the call made on a a prepaid phone....yes prepaid...theyc an produce a billing but they don't!
