View Full Version : Ministry of Immigration: RE: Citizenship
Joe Baboon 08-13-08, - 08:59 PM Well I guess you feel that you dont need a Passport or a Driver Liscence but in a Civilizied world, one must have citizenship or some form of identification recorded at a certain location in that Country, I guess in the case of the Bahamas (The Department of Immigration or say Road Traffic) regardless of someones Religion or Race but I guess if thats what you want to do, although I would and maybe others would question your ethics, I dont think you will get a lot of support from the Bahamian Community in doing so but I wish you luck if thats what you plan on doing since you came up with the idea!!!!!.....
In any event thanks for your contribution.......:hammer::hammer:
What you are fantasizing about is a fascist state. It has been done, it doesn't end well.

John Doe 08-13-08, - 09:04 PM So my question to you Baboon and Tingum is this:
Is it a bad idea for the public to have the right to freedom of information in regards to Immigration?

There is nothing wrong with freedom of information per se and I am certain that you would be able to get the statistics, however as for actual names of people I think that would encroach upon their personal freedom. After all, they have committed no crime by becoming a citizen, permanent resident or obtaining a work permit, and certainly in the case of citizenship applicants you had the right to object to them being granted said citizenship. Are they not entitled to their privacy and their rights just as you are? Would you want a complete stranger going looking for information about you?

The rules vary depending on the vertical market, but there are ways around it - how do you think the lawyers make all the money?
