How would you feel if BTC were sold to its only competitor, Indigo? Do you think there is any possibilty the government would sell BTC to the only other local telecom company?

But Indigo has nowhere near enough money to even think about a purchase. Their total assets all lumped together would amount to no more than 1/10th the purchase price of BTC. blp 08-14-08, - 04:35 PM The PUC would block it if it could happen. Dont worry about that, The new owner of BTC is just waiting to fit things there. I told them to close that deal before they were voted out of office now thay still have to wait. The weath of this nation remains the same. The three way connection rides again. Go Boys Go:hammer: asterz57 08-14-08, - 04:37 PM How would you feel if BTC were sold to its only competitor, Indigo? They have some kinks to work out in their own system first. I think they should consider AT&T to take that over. imcobra 08-14-08, - 05:10 PM In my opinion that would be a grave mistake. Until you have had dealings with the folks at Indigo you would not share my concerns. Having dealt with both Batelco and Indigo, I find it hard to choose between them. However, I will put this forward, Batelco might be described by some as incompetent, but some might simply describe Indigo as just too slick. Indigo's upper management seems to have difficulty in keeping their word, and trying to run their business on a shoe string. Bahamians should demand a Telco with deep pockets, which can install all necessary modern infrastructure, and hire a Staff which is willing to serve the public without having to be paid off. We need a phone company that operates in the first world, enough of this third world crap now, I am tired, even the Jamacians laughing at us. Just my 2 Cents!! boy cobra - i share your concerns them suckas quite slick and very expensive they were advertising home phones for a fifty dollar deposit so i went there only to be told they have no domestic package so in order to get a local number i would have to buy the basic package for $19.99 a month(international calls ) pay 9.99 for unlimited local calling and then pay 19.99 to be able to call a family island - i was like what then on top of that i found out it was voip - and not a land line i thought that was deceptive and very disappointing to put the cherry on the lady says to me the $50.00 deposit special over - even though i had just heard it advertised and that i would have to pay $259.00 to sign up i hope whoever replaces what we have now is better Lurker 08-14-08, - 05:37 PM BTC will not be sold to Indigo. Whoever ends up buying BTC has to invest another $100 million in infrastructure on top of the purchase price. Actually buying BTC is not that good of an idea if you are Indigo. It has been publically stated that after privatisation of BTC, the monopoly would remain in place for only a year -- possibly two. The most lucrative play for Indigo, would be to wait and buy the first non-monopoly wireless licence in a year and compete with the new owners of BTC. As a matter of fact, more telecoms are waiting for the first wireless licence after the sale of BTC, than those lining up to bid on BTC. That first licence a year after privatisation will be more lucrative than buying BTC and offering a higher Return on Investment. Joe Baboon 08-14-08, - 09:08 PM BTC will not be sold to Indigo.
