Teniel 04-10-05, - 10:51 PM lol My only request is that the next POPE stop all this molesting little boys business and let the POPE retire when he needs to. John Paul was worked like a Hebrew Slave in his last days, and dat een right! Pope John Paul was stubborn, he did not want to step down, and concentrate on his maladies. he felt he had to finish the work he began. Even Jesus needed time to himself, and would have takena vacation. If the Pope had stepped down when his Parkinsons took hold of him, he may have been alive today. I personally would have retired, and taken a little trip to the Bahamas, and the rest of the Caribbean. I think he can, if he requests particularly on the grounds of poor health. But dont hold me to that one. Tafadhali 04-10-05, - 11:10 PM I think he can, if he requests particularly on the grounds of poor health. But dont hold me to that one. I could have sworn I heard on MSNBC that in his will, the poor chap stated that he wanted to retire 5 years ago but the cardinals and other vatican officials pleaded with him to "hold on just a little longer" CG 04-10-05, - 11:35 PM Amen to the back bone thing. I to believe that he upheld the beliefs of the catholic church. Even to the extent of covering up and hiding church abuse of innocent little boys and girls. It takes alot of backbone to stand up for your evil priest even though the whole world was asking for justice to be done. He stood up to the world and chose to protect his bastard priest. Thats back bone. This life is full of injustice but thank God for HELL. Contrary to catholic belief you can't buy your way out of hell. But back to the point. I fully agree with your back bone statement. There is no doubt that this molesting business was very bad, and badly handled by the church and the Pope. It has happened in other religions too and it is handled equally badly. To me it is a cut and dried issue, there is nothing to think about and hold conclaves about. It is wrong! :hammer: canewry 04-13-05, - 10:33 AM There is no doubt that this molesting business was very bad, and badly handled by the church and the Pope. Jesus did not take a vacation...he paused to reflect to see how he was going to finish what he started... CG 04-13-05, - 11:11 AM Which other religions... Perhaps I should have said denominations of Christendom. Yet, Pedophiles (adults who are sexually attracted to children) are not limited to the Church. It is a weakness that is in every given population so it stands to reason that every religion has them. There are even atheist pedophiles I am sure! I heard of a case in my own religion, Buddhism, where a Pedophile was caught after years of abuse. It seems that religions are slow to weed out the sins within their own ranks. Teniel 04-19-05, - 01:49 PM Well CG, your prediction was the closest, the next pope is indeed European. Joseph Ratzinger the Cardinal from Germany has been elected as the new pope, and will be known as Pope Benedict XVI. Funny thing though, Ratzinger sounds like a Jewish name. While I rejoice with the Roman Catholics that they now have a new Pope, I am a bit concerned at the choice. Joseph Ratzinger was a very fundamentalist Catholic, very much a "hardliner" for the faith. I doubt that now he is Benedict XVI he will soften his position. He is very much against Homosexuals, the advancement of women in the Church, birth control, etc. etc. Some of these points have driven believers away from the RC faith. He also said, sometime ago, that "other faiths are deficient." This does not bode well for ecumenicalism Truthseeker 04-19-05, - 02:09 PM Perhaps I should have said denominations of Christendom. Maybe RELIGION is the SIN among us humans that needs to be weeded out.:hammer: Truthseeker 04-19-05, - 02:13 PM While I rejoice with the Roman Catholics that they now have a new Pope, I am a bit concerned at the choice. His hardline policies will benefit mankind in the long run by decimating that cesspool of an organization call the Catholic Church. :rip: CG 04-19-05, - 02:17 PM Maybe RELIGION is the SIN among us humans that needs to be weeded out.:hammer: I don't feel Religion is the sin, perhaps the way it is practiced at times, is! |
