John Doe, you asked a question about "Export Only" food recently. In my world view, I believe my eyes and tastes buds. I have compared the same product whether snacks and oatmeal, or pancake batter. The export only food is an inferior product when it comes to salt and sugar content, etc. And to add insult to the slap across the face, the inferior product is more expensive ( even though Yorrik claims the producers do not pay export tax). Let us send a message to the importers by not buying this junk. Import replacement should be policy, wherever it can be done. There is absolutely no leadership on food issues from the government or civil society. Everyone is worrying about EPA and other nonsense...

Very true 12play, but Yorick still made a valuable point in regards to not having to pay export tax for certain food items that are exported (which is believable because its the same for cars but the reason its scary is because those are the cars that have salvage titles that are inferior and will not be allowed on the streets in the U.S.).

Our Govts (PLP/FNM) have no interest in us feeding ourselves or promoting "GREEN" and putting our lives on the line when it comes to hotel occupancy, its so unbelievable that we as a country still cant stand on our own feet and others have our lives in their hands.

Overall, I do believe that the majority (I am not sure if all) but the majority of exported food we consume is inferior but ya know something thats very funny, WHAT IS THE #1 INDUSTRY FOR THE BAHAMAS:

TOURISM

AND WHEN THE TOURIST COME HERE, GUESS WHAT FDA, THEY/YOU ARE ALL EATING AND DRINKING THE SAME THING WE ARE.

Isnt that something.....:dgi::confused::hammer::hammer::hammer:

Indeed! Lol.... But, Corporations care about dollars only; until it affects the dollars there is no reason to care. Our leaders should be concerned about the national security and well being of The Bahamas and Bahamians foremost, and sadly, they doh care much about their own children, much less the rest of us. The next drink, or piece-a-leg is what drives a lot of them.

The Fact--Truth of Why Bahamian Hotel Workers are Obese
I lived in the Bahamas and know many Bahamian who work in the Hotel Industry. The Bahamians on a whole eat a rich starch diet, rice, macaroni and cheese, potato salad etc. The Bahamian eat this diet at home and when the go to work the eat the same diet. Many Bahamians who work in the Hotel bring home th FOOD from the Hotel kitchen to eat at home--known fact. On the other cause some people it's a Medical Cause.
As we all know many of our Bahamian Hotel employees ar not health concious and don't exercise. Many of them love being obese and like ben call "brick house" Bahamian need to be Health concious.
WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT IT?
Form A Health Club In Every Hotel for Hotel Workers!:angel:
Perhap we nee to read the book, Understanding Obesity: The Five Medical Causes by Dr Lancy Levy
I have seen this before , some years ago the same group of persons was out there claiming that they were looking at the possibity to get insurance for the hotel workers through the union and its is suspected that they benefited but the union and hotel workers were left out in the cold, No Insurance but a bunch of medical test done with a well known doctor and clinic near the top of the hill ZNS. Now here they come again telling us that it time again.Not this time my brother, we need the money to come in our pockets this time:jawdroop:
