For teachers

I must say I spent a part of my weekend working with two of my friends who are private school teachers!

On Saturday one of the teachers spent more than $100 for a minimal amout of supplies for her classroom! Her school will reimburse her, as will my other friend. They both work for two fo the top schools in this country and are paid well compared to the govt employed teachers.

Did I mention the teaching supplies are quite expensive, and we visited several stores similar prices!

Then there was the classroom set up...I went on Sunday to assist in setting up...nice classroom airconditioned sealed etc. Supplies for the teacher and students gallore, I was left speechless at the amount of resources they are given with which to work for both the teacher and the students. The other school which I visit often, the same sceanrio.

And btw, classroom setting up is not an easy job! All I can say is wow!

Now the flip coin, the public school teachers are not paid quite as handsomely, they are not given anything with which to prepare their classrooms, and whatever they purchase comes from their own pockets! The classomms are not as nice and how much you want to bet on the news tonight Belinda and Co will be documenting what is incomplete from what isn't even repaired or started as yet.

I say all of that to say I now have a far greater level of repect for teachers, most especially the ones in the public school system and the ones at the Anglican and Catholic schools are not as well paid as my two friends!

Well from what I see it's lots of work!

I support both of my friends however I can, even with marking papers while we hang out, putting portfolios togehter etc!
