I don't think they should they should be turned back.

These people are coming to our country to experience our beautiful sun, sand and sea, the duty free shopping and hospitality that we advertise and brag about. Then when they get here we turn them away beacuse we hear they're gay. That's preudice.

The saddest thing is we live among gay individuals everyday some are bold and others stay behind closed doors.

Besides the people on these cruises are only here for a day.

What about the ones that don't announce their visits and come by private or commercial airlines or even their private yachts

these cruises should not be turned back becuase gay money is the same as straight money. i think what that person was tryin to say is generally gay persons have more expendable incomes becuase they usally have no children, no alimony etc. also these caribbean need to be carefull of how they come across to people becuase gay people also have straight friends and when their friend comes back and says: "those bahamians, jamiacans, trini's etc was protesting and carryin on at the dock and ruined our vacation we fealt unwelcomed and out cast" their friends are gonna say well if that's the way they carry on I aint goin. and that friend tells another friend etc. so in reality turning away a gay cruise with 2000 passengers could have a back lash that cuases 25-50 thousand straight and gay visitors not want to come to your shores.

can someone tell me why the caribbean is notirious for being anti-gay?

Fear and ignorance

i never in that post used the term social ill, i do think it is problem not becuase they are gay but becuase it is uncessary. if only the majority of these wayward bahamians fathers would stay at home and handle their business, these numbers would be lower.People are glbt from the womb so fathers being home have nothing to do with it. in that post i also never said i thought anything was wrong with it or that i think gay bahamian youth should be disrespected, humilated, judged, and run otta town.

rory i agree with you is hetrosexual anal sex wrong, after all the same equipment is used to get the job done

in my opinon most bahamians dont even have an inch to speak and condemn these people, especially the majority of our homophobic men who treat their wives so unkindly and dont check for der chirren, A MAN WHO DOES NOT TAKE CARE OF HIS FAMILY IS AN INFIDEL IN GODS EYES. the ones who are lazy, idle, and glutonous are just as sinful in God's eyes. the ones who cohabitate and hope outta bed with their bf/gf whom they are not married to but yet they wanna run to the dock with protest sign!!!!???? check ur self

so lets tske their money and remeber the verse "Judge not least ye be Judged."

As well another question I want to throw in. In Jamaica they have a law that makes homosexual acts illegal, they call it buggery. Is such a law present on the Bahamian books?

Just to answer this question you posed, if there was a law in the past it has since been removed.

http://www.sodomylaws.org/world/caribbean.htm

The above link gives info on countries in our region that have sodomy laws. Regardless of an official law or not, if a person is caught in a homosexual act they are usually detained on some other charge.

i wonder what the churches stance is on the hetrosexuals that have anal sex??
Its not same sex but since they are using the bible im sure thats not a normal form of sex "as allocated by the bible".. what about oral .. etc etc .. and does the bible explain in detail how to have sex ?? Isnt using a condom against the bible ...?? Me I couldnt care less but since on the subject ...Does a christian goto hell for oral sex, what about swatting a roach ..? They really need to make some new Bahamas Church commandments if they want us to follow all this crap .. :shaky:

According to the Bible any time semen is released and its not in the vagina of your wife its against the Law.

I agree with Vicky here. I know many men and women living in the Bahamas right now that come from traditional two parent homes and are still as gay as can be. I doubt the single parent home has anything to do with it.

thanks for posting that link finekameo. did any one notice the amount of countries in which two females were legal and two males were illegal. which brings me to another question, why does it seems that two females are more accepted than two men!!!!????

well the two parent home i agree doesnt stop a person from being gay, but i based my opinion on research that shows a small percent of males tend to look to men sexually becuase subconsiously they did not get any love from their father. the study also show that these males are usally bi-sexual. studies also show that a small percent of women tend to have rocky relationships becuase their father wasnt there.

i am glad the bahamas isnt one of those countires that finds two females to be more acceptable that tow males.

This is one issue that I feel men and women are not equal. Two women going at with a male in the mix (threesome), has been the classic male fantasy. Most men probably wouldnt admit to it, but alot of men are turned on by two women engaged in a sexual act. The only difference is that most times there is acceptance if the women are femme fatales, girly, and dont appear obviously lesbian. But two butch, he-women, would probably not get the same response form male fantasizers, and that is where the loathing sets in. As far as men are concerned, most hypermasculine societies wont accept their sexual affections, no matter what.

Maybe James Brown was wrong :)

Because most human str8 males are turned on by just the thought of 2 fem women having sex. Let one be a masculine female and there ends the turn on. Just take some time and look at the porn industry. There are more videos made and sold with 2 women than any other.

Sad to say, the Bahamas is. It may not be reflected in the legislation, but socially it is. Two very good friends of mine were in a lesbian relationship when I lived in Nassau and they would always have men propositioning them. If they were in public holding hands people would look, but most would just turn their head and not care. I have seen guys being harassed for simply holding hands on the beach or being a little too close when they talk. Even for a guy to walk down the street in something a little too tight can cause a huge incident.

Face it, the one-male-two-female fantasy will always allow the black male to accept a lesbian more readily than a gay male.

call me an odd duck but i never found two women together to be a turn on; posiibly becuase i am just an all or nothin person on this topic. when i said that the bahamas isnt one of those countries that prefer same sex female over males i meant by legislation, which can be found in that link that finekameo posted. as far as that study, vicky i will post it later cuase i dont feel like lookin right now i wil also start that thread we discussed when i get the time. all i can say is thank GOD we are not in jamiaca, i would say they are way more homophobic than we are as a society. i am also thankful that our minister of tourism recgonised that this type of attitude chops off the hand that feeds us and has apologised to those passengers that came in and met rude and unwelcomed opposition.
