Fidelity lets you know the underlying securities!

Fidelity it is then. :hammer:

(Still, nobody know anything about FG Capital Markets?)

Don't put a dollar in CFAL. Trust me when I say that.
Bad experience? :taped2:

They're new...I'd say wait until next year.

Just saw where Family G. went from making a profit in the million in the 2Q of 2007 to making 88K 2Q 2008.....

Wait and see! Same for British American and their mutual fund...wait!/

These rough times though. I hope they rebound accordingly.

Apparently they had a lot of claims, but by law they should have reserves and investments that can be converted to cash quickly but that does not seem to be the case!

These capital markets just can't seem to get off the ground.
Now, I can see why with all this undercapitalization, etc.
I'll definitely speak to Fidelity, and they have a retail bank.

Colina does mortgages. Who knew? I didn't.

Most insurance companies do mortgages....as a form of investment!

Oh, my bad. I thought it was a handy strategy since they also provide life insurance.

Oh, my bad. I thought it was a handy strategy since they also provide life insurance.
The main purpose is to invest the monies they collect as premiums, most especially the ones that are for long term benefits (Life). A person borrowing 200K and paying 8% interest over 25 years pays back quite a bit of monies.....

If a person defaults, the insurance company can foreclose etc, etc....

The life insurance is another aspect.

I ran the mortgage dept for an insurance company...if the person had life elsewhere, once I could get an assignment of benefits I was cool. Now if they didn't have life and needed I recommended the company I worked for just because it was easier to track from an administrative stand point.....but yes FG, Colina, BA, and the former Imperial life does mortgages!

What's that, assignment of benefits? The premiums?
(As you can tell, I'm pretty clueless about insurance)

A life insurance policy is a requirement for mtgs in the Bahamas. If u borrow $100k youhave to have life insurance for that amount. The bank/company granting the mortgage (motgagee) will request that the life insured, who is also the mortgagor assigns the benefits to the bank/insurance company, which is a form that you will sign at your insurance company, the insurance company will then stamp/seal as well as sign and record in their system that the benefits are assigned to FINCO or whatever bank or ins co your mortgage is with! Meanwhile you will continue to pay premiums as you cannot allow your policy to lapse or like one client tol me collapse!

In the event the mortgagor dies before the mortgage is paid off, the mortgagee will be paid before the beneficiary is paid. For instance if u borrowed $100k, and you die owing the bank $25K, the insurance company where you are insured will pay the mortgee $25k and your beneficiary will receive the balance.

Hope this is clear.... and we highjacking ur thread!

No, this is great information. Thanks much. I was the one who brought it up anyways. Insurance has always been a daunting issue for me. Thanks for clearing it up.

If you had $1,000.00, whom would you invest in? Should I throw FG capital markets in the mix as well?
Does this make sense? Am I comparing apples and oranges here?
Your thoughts please.
Invest it yourself! Why have someone else making millions off of your money when you could flip it yourself.
Some of the greatest companies in the world were started from small amounts of money in a garage (Apple), or in a small corner shop (Walmart), or college dorm room (Dell). There are also examples in the bahamas that started small: the Hit spot (from a car back truck), Yellow and the Butcher (from the streets), Bamboo Shack we could go on and on.
After you have made a lot of money then you can invest in stocks and mutual funds etc. this would be better than leaving it in the bank.

Lincoln, you ein lie. But I wanted to do something online and apparently, the banks don't have it sorted where I can receive cash to a Bahamian bank account. I want the cash working for me, instead of just burning a whole in my pocket.

(Okay, the thread gone in a totally different direction again.) :bouncy:
